Update:

after being stroked around by a couple body shops and having them tell me they cant take delivery because there is no wheels on the car. Well I got the appraisal done the other day and they wrote up for a touch over $3,000 in damage.

Dude, that's insane. Sorry to see that happened right in your driveway. I haven't owned a Honda/Acura in a while due to thievery, but I've recently joined the site because I'm thinking about a 3G TL. Should I attempt to prevent such an occurrence if I buy?

Man that sucks really bad. I feel for you and I hope justice is served.
You should try looking into some wheel locks or something, maybe setup a security camera or something I don't know haha. Good luck man hope it works out for you.

Yes, checking craigslist is a very good idea. A buddy of mine got his car stolen, checked on craigslist, and the damn thief stripped his car and was selling everything on craigslist. He contacted the police. But the police in Miami don't care about a civic.

My plan is to get the dark grey 08 TL Type S wheels... Let me tell you my reasoning behind it. I really like the Type S wheels but I also liked the A-Spec wheels. My problem with the A-Specs is the fact that it is an 18" wheel and this is my daily driver. I don't want to have to pay more for tires and I dont want to make the ride quality even more stiff than it already is.

Here's a quick and cheap solution to your wheel issue.

Craigslist... $350 for 4 stock TL wheels with tires. I bet you could get them for $300 if you negotiate well.

http://worcester.craigslist.org/pts/1218891585.html

In fact these may actually be your wheels... but of course it's hard to tell.

Or a-spec rims in Boston for $800 including tires.

I think the TL wheels in Worcester were mine... The tread pattern Looks very similar to the tires that were on my car.

I think they really might be your wheels! The wheels in the ad are 04 or 05 TL wheels. They aren't off of an 06 like it says. 2006 TL wheels look a lil different around the tire valve cause of the TPMS (Tire Pressure sensors) I think whoever is selling them should know what year their car was....thats if they even own a TL. They might have stole your wheels and listed them on craigslist thinking they were off an 06TL....

Ummm...keep us posted. Don't give it away right away that you are suspecting anything. Get the persons information...set up a meeting place to "buy the rims" back...have someone come with you and take pictures of the person, and the license plate of the car they show up in...and have someone follow them.

Don't do any kamikaze shit. Let the cops handle it but don't let them get away with it! MAKE SURE THEY ARE YOUR TIRES THOUGH...that seems like too cheap of a price. Grill the person once they're in person. Like "where did you get these?" etc...what year did they come off of...

Where did you get it and how expensive was it....

Update:
Well the TL type S wheels were ordered new from the Acura dealer at a touch over $1200.00 with taxes and center caps, new A-spec side skirts because as it turns out they damaged both sides, and the adjuster is coming out to adjust for the damage to the floor boards and to readjust the damage done to the rockers and the other miscellaneous scratches an scrapes caused by this incident to the paint.

Well...I was def not condoning him confronting the guy himself. Just meant to be incognito and see if you could get enough info on him when you meet up to give to the police and have them handle it. If he stole your rims, I'm sure it's probably not an isolated incident and THAT might intrigue the cops enough to follow up with the clues you provide. Namely, the car, tag, description of the person etc...

But meeting will give you the clues and allow you to confirm that they're your rims for sure. That's why I said NO kamikaze stuff. Trust me...coming from South Florida with Pork and Beans, Sistrunk, Overtown etc...I'm familiar with crappy neighborhoods! Wouldn't want anyone getting hurt over some rims.

Great to hear it's getting resolved btw...brand new rims...very nice!

ohhh and one other thing you might want to do, dont drive your car to meet them! I would contact the detective assigned to your case and lay out the evidence you have so far on craigslist post and see what he thinks or can do with it

wasnt much.. i got it along time ago lol very long ago should be more then 300 with 2 cams,tv, and the recording stuff with wires.. you can also send the video to your computer..... we also have 2 lights that turn on real brite if someone walks next to the cars..

works pretty good.. 2 years back i had just finished waxing my civic(took me 3 longs hours cause i did it good). i park in the drive way and next morning i wake up and there 3 broken eggs on my car...i checked the cam and i the kid had a white civic turbo and i knew where he lived... so next they i went and took some ketchupe & syrup and threw it all over his car and inter cooler.

the best part was as i was driving to work the next day i seen him scrubbing his car..

you should invest in one.. its also good for the house.. good luck

^^ hahahahah I would love to see a video like that. Reminds me of the time I got into car wars senior year.

Each day one of my friends cars would get detroyed with those washable markers, saran wrap, and fruit punch drinks. Happened to everyones car except mine, since they knew I would beat the shit out of them

It ended with my friends durango getting syrup, pancake mix, and vasoline on it...along with a slurpee and some lemonaid. One of the kids wrote Got Pancakes? in his window with washable marker. He ruined his wipers and messed up his door handles.....cost the kid who did it about 100 dollars.

Update

Well I got my car back this weekend. The total was over 3,600 in damage. New side skirts on both sides, Repair on the floor, Repair on the Rocker Panels, Repainted front skirt due to a scuff, and 4 new wheels with tires (with a 50% deduction on the tires due to wear). I opted to put the 2008 TL Type-S dark hyper gray wheels on it with Nexan tires.

I am very happy with my decision the rims go perfectly with the color and style of the car.

Excuse the Pics the car did get detailed before I got it back but it rained the day i brought it home and its pretty much been rainy ever since.

Insurance covered everything I wanted them too. I put some Gorrilla Locks on them (I heard they work well)... I also stepped up the security on the house as well and I have a couple other additions in mind for the security system for the house soon.
