Dont floor the car and you'll minimalize it.

Lack of traction causes it.

Does it happen most when you're taking a right or left-hand turn after making a full stop? If so, listen to the guys above and just take it easy. Less throttle on turns (if turns are your issue) = less/no wheel hop.

I was really hoping for some intelligent answers...Like tire pressure or different tires etc...

What? is this a test? We were simply trying to help you. Don't post if you're going to be a prick about it

Wheel traditionally with RWD cars (in particular those with leaf springs) was/is caused by spring windup.

In our FWD TL's it is most commonly caused by partial wheel slip since it is not possible for a FWD car to benefit from position weight transfer. By partial wheel slip I mean the front tires partially breaking traction. That means there is a break in traction, then a sudden traction gain, followed by another break in traction, and a traction gain, and so on. My guess is that: under hard throttle, you are either not going to sudden and full throttle, or the road surface offers superior traction, or the air temperature is quite warm, or you have an automatic transmission.

When I come out of the hole with my '04 manual TL, first gear will break traction with a solid burn of the tires and no wheel hop.

Here are some articles for you to read RE: Wheel Hop:

1) Wheel Hop Reduction
2) Wheel Hop 2

Quotes from various people on the "wheel hop" issue:

a) "Wheel hop is primarily caused by your engine rocking in the engien bay when you dump the clutch. The violent jerk backward unloads a lot of the weight off of your drive axle and allows your tires to skip along the pavement. Solid motor mounts help eliminate the jerk of the motor, and the radius bars will help keep the control arms from stuttering if they are still tempted to do so."

b) Do a google for Radius Rods or Radius arms = Z 10 Engineering sells them.

c) also check out: Article on Radius Arms

NOTE - Some of the links above are specific to a different type of FWD vehicle, but the issue is the same. Try doing a google next time before you insult the people who are trying to help you.

Better tires would help, and stiffer suspension set up would help as well... (i.e. stiffer rear would reduce squatting, or lifting in the front)

Throttle control would help, too.

But you should be more specific if you want "intelligent" answers... we can't tell if you're talking about coming out of turns, from a stop, "regular" driving or stop-light racing, and so on.

If it's from a dig, try holding the rpms at like 1000-2500 and roll out fast. The car will wheelhop if you let the clutch out too quick. That's not unusualy for a FWD or a RWD drive, we'd have to stiffen up some things to get rid of it.

I am not trying to be a prick about it...However there is not point in stating the obvious. This was a question for some people that have some experience with it. It occurs after dumping the clutch or if I take off normal and nail it after the clutch is all of the way out. I have comptech springs...So going stiffer suspension is not an option in that dept. Coming out of a turn it is not that noticeable. I understand what wheel hop is...I was looking for someone to share their thoughts other than dont give it alot of throttle.

Thanks...For all who replied intelligently
