08 TL - 47K. no major repairs.

My only concern is I'm starting to get A LOT of rattles here and there. It's pretty annoying that a luxury car would have so many little rattles.

swoosh 08-20-2012 01:24 PM

damn and here I was thinking i had pretty much the highest mileage 3G LOL...am at 162,000...

ep3kid914 08-20-2012 02:06 PM

I would add to jhumbo's repair history that the extra labor cost of timing belt tensioner (132K) would have been negligible at the later repair date if it was properly inspected/replaced at the timing belt/water pump repair date (107K).

It seems you remember my posts about my issue with the dealer not diagnosing the ticking noise of the TB tensioner even though I told them prior to the timing belt service. I think some of us know way to much about each other's cars. They actually waived a majority of the labor charges. I think they charged me just 1.5 hr of labor rather than 9, or something like that.

I've had my 2004 Base Auto since it had 79k, and she's at 176k now. Things I've done: Regular oil changes, brake pads, one set of rotors, all motor mounts, one front sway bar link broke, timing belt (and related other parts) at 125k, and one rebuilt transmission (went out at 160k). Before the transmission rebuild, I had done the 3x3 done about every 30k miles or so. I drive very hard, all the time, and I'm very impressed with the motor. Still runs pretty damn close to the way it did when I bought it! Truthfully, I can't believe the poor transmission made it to 160k the way I drive. All in all, I'm happy with my purchase. I've read every thread about every problem and I guess I just got real lucky with this car.

05SSMTL 08-20-2012 03:37 PM

just hit 161k....bought it with 42k a little over 3 1/2 yrs ago. still runs awesome. 100 out of my 106 mile commute is highway. I've only had to do regular maintenance, battery, T belt, Brakes (@ 130k), and a couple of sets of tires.

bahasad 08-20-2012 03:41 PM

Now how many of you with over 100K have had no tranny issues?

im not really sure if i bought the car like that or i hit somewere not sure i had posted a thread before about the crack near the drain bolt and putting like a sealer type to stop the leak now its just a lil and then i accidently broke the fill bolt with my socket lol (idiot me) but ima replace the tranmission in a month or less before school starts

Just turned 85,000 miles on my 07' TLS, to date dealer has replaced driver seat track, the CD player and just last week the oil pump seal & CV boot, all under warranty.

shadowsonic 08-20-2012 08:14 PM

newbie just bought an 04 TL with 55K 6spdMT.

Grey Gonzalez 08-20-2012 11:09 PM

just bought an 06 w/ Navi 6MT and just turned 76k. Got it serviced and just found out its got a new transmission that barely had any fluid in it.

According to the car fax it looked serviced pretty good, but should of brought it in to a mechanic first. Hoping it keeps chugging for at least another 75k! My goal is to get at least 150k on the odometer.

I'm on the original trans. My buddy with 190k is as well, but he drives all highway and drives like a grandma.

267k and it's a 5AT. Awesome!! Do you know if it is the original trans? How many miles were on the car when you got it?

RaviNJCLs 08-24-2012 02:27 PM

My 08 is just over 122K. 50K miles in 15 months of ownership.

I bought the car brand new and it has the original engine and transmission, when I bought the car it had 12 miles on it. I've changed the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles and oil every 5000 miles. It has been a very good car to me. Only problem I'm having is with my drivers side headlight, the high beam does not work.

This is very encouraging! What transmission fluid have you been using? Have you ever changed the pressure switches?

I've been doing the 3x drain and fill with ATF Z1 up until 210,000 miles and since then I've been using the new DW-1 fluid. I have never replaced the pressure switches, I'm thinking that with my frequent transmission maintenance it's still working fine.

As far as the engine oil, I'm using a premium conventional Mobil 5000 with Mobil 1 oil filter. The car still to this day burns no oil, leaks nothing and is mechanically sound!

bahasad 08-24-2012 07:26 PM

wow...this just made my day!
i just hope mine makes another 25K on original trans before i get rid of it!

I change all fluids annually and some people call me crazy...but seeing your awesome numbers are a solid reminder why I perform such preventative insanity.

Well done, dude!!!

Thanks! Your regular fluid changes, especially your 3x3 every 30k obviously paid off. I'm am encouraged to keep on trucking with my TL as I really see no need to replace it aside from the fear of transmission problems.
