I have a 2004 TL 6MT with 245k miles on it.
The car will last as longs as its properly maintained. So far i've done the following in no particular order: 1- Changed the spark plugs twice. The first time one of the spark plugs wasn't in tight and it exploded. That was an unfortunate event which caused damage to the cylinder head threads. Helicoil did the trick however every spark plug replacement comes with stress. This shouldn't have happened. 2- Multiple brake pad/rotor replacements. The Brembo pads wear quickly. 3- 1 Front caliper replacement. 4- Replaced two sets of rear brake calipers (sticky calipers; heavy corrosion caused by the New England weather). 5- Power Steering pump replacement. I'm experiencing issues again but I've managed to just deal with it until it completely fails. 6- Navi DVD player failed. Sent to Panasonic for repairs instead of paying an arm and a leg for dealer replacement. 7- Two timing belt changes. 8- Two clutch replacements. The first I had replaced at the dealer and the second I decided to replace it on my own. I replaced the second clutch over the weekend... Took 3 days and is labor intensive but saved me about $2000. 9- A few interior fuses. 10- Two rear wheel hubs. 11- Front and rear bushings. 12-Driver's side tie rod. 13- Front axles replaced. 14- O2 sensors (currently having an issue with the catalytic converter rear bank sensors... tough to replace, and so I'm dealing with it until I need to re-inspect the vehicle). 15- Car is consuming about 1.5 quarts of oil every 1500 miles. Slow leak in the rear main seal and probably losing some through the valve seals. 16- Replaced all coil packs. The repairs pile on, however if you want to keep any car... you'll need to keep up with it. In all honestly the car looks great and doesn't feel like a car with over 200k miles on it. |
Good to hear.

i was being a little curious about my 2004 acura TL, i bought the car regardless of 144k miles she had. car is absolute beauty and extra clean.
I know 3g TL has a strong engine while accords go 200k easily, they should go a little more. my question to all prestige 3g owners is, how many miles you have on your TL, what year and how good she runs now? If there is no bad luck failure in car, on what kind of maintenance should i keep my eye on, in order to get her to 200k+ ? i drive about 10-12k a year lol .. so ill get 210k in about 2017 :D  |
05 at, bought with 84, i have 94 now.
|
my 04 AT has 121k, bought it new almost 9 yrs ago.
Still runs strong-ish, the engine is great, but the Transmissions makes clunking noises when it goes from P to R, D, etc. Normal Maintanence: Timing Belt Oil Changes, etc. Bad Luck Crap... car went through 5 batteries starter motor knocker sensor motor mount replacement... multiple times maybe some more, just be careful, once the miles rack up... I used to driver her 20,000 miles a year, now, probably alot less, around 6-10k |

Why don't you look into an extended 3rd party warranty. I just pay $50 copay and it's identical to the original warranty when it was new. New power steering pump, lines, starter, new front axle and boots. All for $50!
Easycare. And it's transferable for $50 so it's a huge selling point as well, assuming you want to sell down the road. |
07 type s 100k. Doing the 105 service this weekend. Extended warranty 3rd party. Power steering pomp replace engine oil pomp eginen mount replace for 100$ deductible.

My TL just turned 322K miles and I had the Flashing Engine light come on. I am the original owner on this 3G and have had it since January, 2004. She has been to Illinois, Florida, New Hampshire and everywhere in between far too many times to count. New York City and Philadelphia frequently as well. This has been an ultra low cost car to own and this engine fix as well. $302 after tax and diag to replace Cylinder 2 coil and plug. I have done multiple trans fluid exchanges (at home fashion) and only use Amsoil for the trans and engine oil. I only did spark plugs once and have done the timing belt twice at 140K and 270K. The seats have cracked from long term wear and a lack of conditioning and care on my part. Sad really because otherwise, no one would ever believe it even had 100k on it.

:what: Not sure if I can impress after a 320K. Impressive
04 TL 2nd owner 178k So far I have replaced struts @150k All 100k service completed (Previous owner replaced every fluid EXCEPT transmission fluid :() Transmission at 165k :whyme: /Oil pan gasket Valve adjustment @ 170k/Valve cover gaskets Doesn't leak a drop of anything--my favorite part Actually at a shop right now getting cam bolts replaced in rear. Great car, not concerned about it lasting another 178k |
06 TL 6MT 63k miles
Love every mile I add to her total! |
Jesus over 300k is impressive. I hit 191k today
|
i got 169k now with my 04 TL.. i changed both front suspension assemblies, bought 4 new tires *used 40% of them" no engine light no shifting issues, did nothing but detailed the car.. it looks excellent! I got a cracked dashboard, so i placed a rag on it.
the only annoying issue i have is, my car pulls a little to passenger side (on all roads) its always the passenger side. Even after buying new tires, going to a chasis shop, rotation every 2-3 months, my car pulls towards pass side. I learned to live with it, besides that everything works perfectly :D oh, i changed 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches and did a 3x3 atf change. |
05 TL with 126k. I bought it at 35k back in Jan 09. I have been on countless long-distance drives; NC to FL about a dozen times, NC to WA and back. I guess my car is an interstate cruiser haha. I've done regular maintenance myself and have experienced no major mechanical issues. However, my navigation started the dreaded "please check your disc" bs at about 110k; the HFL went out soon after. I've been questioning the longevity of the electronics in this car but I think the engine and transmission still feel new. I'm thinking I can get 250k fairly easily.
|
it's great to hear about all these cars with a lot of miles. i'm hoping my 08 tl-s lasts till 200k miles. it's at 75 now
|
93,000 miles. "Check VSC" at 66,000 miles (failed TPBS part), CV boots click, rear suspension noisy/rattling over uneven roads, starter failed at 70,000, clutch began slipping at 80,000, "Tighten fuel cap" message weekly starting at 75,000 miles, and failed DVD drive for navi at 84,000. Numerous clicks and rattles.
I've spent more on repairs on my '07 TL in 3 years and 90,000 miles than I did in my 1st gen TL in 13 years and with more than 180,000 miles. Assembled in USA=FAIL! |
Just hit 112k miles on my 2005 TL Navi AT. Did the timing at 105k. Changed tranny fluid at 100k. Tires changed twice, brakes were done at 105k. Power steering pump is leaking but nothing major. HFL went out at 102k miles. Other than that this car is running strong!
|
i just hit 100k.2nd owner-
basic maintenance, replaced all suspension bushings just as preventive maintenance, especially since they are prone to failing (especially compliance and rear toe arms). |

322k and the original owner? Damn tropwes
|
wow and I thought I had high mileage.
2004 AT. 136xxx, drove nearly 10K in the 7 months i've owned it. Right now it needs: new tires, brakes sometime in the future, bushings, and 1 bent rim. Nothing major. Oh and a dent on the door. |
New to the forum. I've got an 04 TL with 35K. It was an inherited car from my parents. Was only used @ 6mths a year for the 1st 3 yrs (they were snow birds). For the next 3-4 yrs it was hardly driven (2nd car) and i didn't drive to work. Over the last 2 years I have been driving it to work.
|
192k on mine. Got my car appraised by a used car dealer today. They offered me $4200 for it. He said it was the nicest 192k mile car he's ever seen.
|
2005 TL, purchased Janurary 2005. I just surpassed 55,555 miles on the freeway yesterday. So far the problems I encountered are : Driver side window motor failed, fixed under warranty. Bad driver seatbelt connection resulting in SRS light, fixed under warranty. Stupid Hands Free Link failed, draining my battery when parked. I just detached it. I never use it anyway and I don't have navigation. Other than that, she's still going strong.

Just bought my 04 ABP TL on Friday. 125K miles, one owner, maintenance like clockwork. Can't tell how satisfied and happy I am - car runs super, nothing wrong everything in great shape. I'm very gentle with it though, light throttle always!
Hoping to run it till at least 200K, although I should have another TL by then :). My car rolled over to 140K over the Memorial Day Weekend. I was debating trading the car in for a BMW E90, but because of the pathetic trade in value and the fact that this car has no outstanding issues, I have decided to keep it for one more year. My maintenance so far: - 3 oil changes - ATF fluid change at 130K (hoping to do another at 145K) - Just recently replaced the compliance bushings - totally changed the stability and handling improved - Fixed up the paint (numerous scratches and dents/dings) - Fixed a bent rim - Bought new Hankook tires this weekend. Overall, the car has been very reliable, and I like driving it. Love the engine, looks, interior, and gas mileage. Handling leaves much to be desired, imo, which is why I was considering going back to BMW, but I'm hoping to solve that with the tires and suspension. My mods to be installed soon: - Tein H-tech springs - Acura A-spec front lip kit, rear spoiler - (Big maybe) Rear sway bar. 198k now. Engine light goes on for about a day every few weeks. Did pads and rotors again.

Update....
214K now, still running great, looking great, 9 years and counting...
Even after 9 years strangers of all walks comment on how "beautiful" she is. I'm running synthetic tranny fluid (Redline) and syn oil (Mobile 1), for the last 4 years. |
