I've got ~70k on my '05 and I've yet to run into any major mechanical issues. I'm in the process of dropping in a stroker motor (nothing wrong with the old one, I just had the itch for more power ;) ) and hope to get another 100k+ out of the car.

If you ever go to a shop that says they are doing a flush, they most likely are referring to using a machine. Don't let them do it unless they really did mean a drain and fill. |
06 TL with just shy of 70K miles and runs perfect- except for some minor paint chips of the front bumper and front of the hood, it looks great as well.
|
My 05 has almost 46K.....and besides the damn compliance bushings (which are getting replaced Saturday) I have had no issues.
|
108,000 on mine. Only problem is that a couple times the car shut off completely while driving. Over than that I had a couple tire pressure sensors go out and the gas cap message comes on sometimes. The leather seats look very worn for their age and the rear bumper color is a bit off. All in all has been a reliable car.

05 TL auto with Navi. 38,000 on it.
|
I just bought mine almost two weeks ago with 93k miles. At first the miles didn't bother me - I think Acura has an incredible track record of running for the long haul. However, I'm finding that the previous owners just didn't maintain the way I would have had I bought it new.
My husband plans to put a new timing belt on very soon, we're switching the trans fluid, replacing the cabin filter (which we suspect has NEVER been changed). I love my 04 TL, but I can't wait to get all the kinks worked out and get her in tip-top shape! |

^I agree. I havd 55k on a 2006.
|
My 05 TL has just reached 60,000. Bought it with 40,000 3 years ago.
|
'04 at 113k still running smooth, knock on wood
|
~145K on my '05 TL
I do my own oil/filter changes whenever necessary. I have done a 4x3 trans fluid drain/fill Changed the 3rd/4th gear pressure switches Changed brakes/pads Changed spark plugs twice Changed air filter twice Replaced motor mounts Dealer did the 105K service and most other major stuff. My coilovers (Tein SS) have almost 100K on them and need to be rebuilt or replaced soon :annoyed:...other than that, she runs great! |
My 08 has 49K miles on it and runs like a dream!
|
I found it ironic that this thread popped up at this time. I will hit 100K tomorrow morning on my way to work. I purchased it CPO in 2007 and it had about 38K at the time. No real issues to speak of. I even walked an 04 Rustang GT this morning merging onto the freeway. Pic I took yesterday...

65xxx on my 05. No problems yet ( knock on wood ). Did a transmission drain about a year ago. About to do the Type-F transmission fluid change as well as 3rd 4th pressure switch
|
im at 118k now
|
When do we change gear pressure switches? They pop an error code?

Its more of a preventative maintenance for us with the Automatic transmission. 04-05 are prone

Bought her in 2009 with 51k. Now she has 94,XXX. Just regular maintenance and recently did a drain and fill with gm synchromesh friction modified, the transmission feels AWESOME. Saving up for the 105k service.

I will be monitoring this thread a lot. I purchased a 2008 TL with 72K miles in mid May. I am up to 80K now. I should be at about 100K by the end of the year. I drive about 45K a year.
I hope to get 3 solid years out of the car. My 06 is at 94500 and it looks and runs like new. I just started attacking the rock chips and now the car really does look great. Just remembered: the only odd thing I can remember with this car is I've had to replace the battery twice. The charging system always checks out but I'm on my 3rd battery. :dunno: |
I plan to hold mine for at least 10 years.maybe even 15!
I'm at 45k miles on a '06 6MT |
93k, and fuck yea..

I really think you will Ravi. You maintain your cars, and that's all these cars really seem to need.

I've got one (2G) at 100,xxx and one (3G) at 53,xxx.
Both engines run like a top. Some minor cosmetic stuff on both. The '02 (which is now 9 1/2 years old) has a seat motor (seat back tilt) that failed and hasn't been repaired. Yet. The trans failed and was replaced under recall a couple years ago; also replaced motor mounts, brakes, battery and, recently, front shocks. Prior to that, only a bulb in the dash/radio failed. |
Wth = hfl?
|
HFL= Hands free link
I'm checking in at 39k on my 06 TL. I bought her new on 8/30/06. I have not had a single issue to report. I stay on top of maintenance and plan on keeping her for the long haul. I have noticed that the Acura battery does not last long here in the heat. Mine just failed last week and now I'm on my 3rd battery. Life is good  |
102k driving 20k miles a year. Preventative maintenance is the best maintenance.
|
I got my 04 TL a month ago with 40086 on the clock, now 422xx. Everything except the crap Linglong tires previous owner put on is great. I do tend to keep my cars a very long time. I have a '92 Civic, second owner, bought it in '02, almost 200k on body. I only swapped the motor for more powerzz, thats at like 130k now. Also an '86 300zx, second owner, 120k original everything, garage queen. I plan to keep this TL at least ten years or when I find a mint 6spd one that is not outrageously priced lol
|
Got my 05 6MT 2 months ago. 154k on the clock now. My tranny had the characteristic 3rd gear crunchies, but the engine runs beautiful. I changed out the honda fluid for the GM synchromesh w/the friction modifier and its like a new transmission. My HFL died a week after i got it, but it seems every 04-05 does. Overall, i love it. It drives better than most 50k mile vehicles that come through my shop.

Bought mine with 8 miles, currently have 102,000. No major problems besides normal wear and tear. The battery went out after 1.5 years. Had to replace a headlight around 100k. CD player and radio went out arond 100K also. Various interior lights started burning out around 80k. I have about 70% of the lights still working. Going to replace the carpet and the lights very soon along with the timing belt.
Mine still drives and performs like new. Looking at the valvetrain through the oil fill hole, it still looks like you dumped some clean oil on a brand new engine. The most important thing for the 5at guys is replacement of the pressure switches every 2-3 year regardless of mileage. Nothing will increase the reliability of the trans more than this. The other thing is to get away from the factory fluid and use at least a DexIII equivalent like Redline D4 or Amsoil ATF or better yet, a Type F fluid like Redline Racing or Amsoil Super Shift. 5at problems will be a thing of the past if you do these two items. |
05 Tl bought it last September with 45K and now its at 56K and still strong. Of course no surprise when some of these post say 100K+
|
04 TL with 133K miles on it. It's cosmetically not in the greatest condition but still drives and handles very nicely. Contemplated on buying a 2012 TL for some time but can't let my 3G TL go. If it ain't broke, don't replace it
|
123k! Running like a motherfucking champion!
