It was my lucky day today. Sign said $2.43 but the pump was set at $1.43. It's like I found $15 lying on the sidewalk.

Hello Hydrogen
Smog seems to be more like a stereotype like earthquakes. There are some areas in natural basins (L.A., Pomona, Riverside) that trap the smog during strong inversion layers in the summer, but the rest of the year its fine. If you want to see smog try SE Asia. People wear painters masks in public.
I just drove from Va. - NYC and back, so I'll give you five fuel stops made in the past week:

Sheetz is the least expensive in the Northern Virginia area. Shell & Exxon the highest. Gulf uses 10% ethanol (ugh), which I didn't spot until too late. Brooklyn was no higher than No. Va. Gas prices on the Jersey Turnpike are very competitive.

Um, no...There was just an energy bill signed by congress to increase the amount of etOH in U.S gas supply by 2012. Right now there is no etOH around me but my brother lives in PA and sees it more often.
