What tint %

Depends in your area. How police are with having darker tint on the car. Some areas can get away with it while others are strict. Most people get between 20-30 percent which is more than sufficent.

well I live in the LOS Angeles area and cops around here are not that strict(as far as I can see). I recommend 15-18 percent, which is dark but not too dark so YOUR able to see. But i regret getting 15-18% on my TL-S. I should have gotten 5%, i had it on my old camry and it was beautiful. NOBODY CAN SEE IN OR OUT, THATS HOW IT SHOULD BE. If you do get 5% make sure that when turning nobody is there because it really does block your vision.

Just know that 5% you won't be able to see jack at night...
NYC laws have gotten stricter so i got 35% in the back and 50% in the front windows.... Wish I would have gone darker...cause the fronts don't look tinted at all! but at least hopefully i won't get a ticket.
If you have a backup camera I would go 5% rear window, 15% rear passengers and 30% in the fronts only cause I really do like being able to look out at night time as I spend most of my time driving at night anyway.

One on the right for me
I went as dark as possible. It looks great but I can't see shit backing up. And when I'm in SF parking is also a huge pain in the ass.

In virginia I think it is 25%, that being said, 15, 5???? are you crazy? you wont see crap at night. I would do this. And I might do this. 25% on the rear and passengers and 30 % driver and passenger. I might not even do it, since stock we have a anti sun tint that does the job.

I have a TL-S 07 in CA; went with 20% front, 30% rears. Have them on for not even a day over one year and haven't gotten a ticket for them yet (Los Angeles).
Got pulled over once at night b/c cop said he couldn't see in and then asked if everything was fine (scare tactic?) and then let me be; chatted for only 30 secs at best and he was off. Also, when I got tagged for missing front place, both the patrol officer, as well as the inspection sheriff at the court house never mentioned the tints at all. I think you'll be fine at least with 20% in front.
now with all that said ..... *knocks on wood* =)

I have 35% on sides and back. I like the look and can still see pretty well at night. Got pulled over once at night for touching yellow line, but officer was very polite and professional and never mentioned anything about the tint.
My wife got the fronts tinted on her '07 CR-V to match the factory tint on sides/back. It is a bit dark driving her CUV at night, but it sure looks good. Last month while driving south on I-85 just south of the VA/NC state line I was stopped. This officer also was very pleasant, and he stopped us for the tint. He measured the amount of the tint and he asked me to step out to see the reading on his device. It was something like 14%. He explained that he could issue a ticket because we were illegal for our home state. I honestly didn't know what the tint was or what the state limit was and I explained this to the officer. He then wished us a nice day, safe trip, shook my hand and we were on our way.
I'm planning to tint the windows on my '03 Honda Civic too. I'll likely keep it legal or close.

I had 20% tint on all five windows, but got a fix it ticket in Korea Town (Los Angeles) so changed the front windows to 30%. Haven't had a problem since. Also, look into Huper Optik's nano-ceramic tint. I paid $425 for five windows, but it's worth it. Definitely blocks out more UV rays, so the temperture is cooler inside the car during summers.

I live in northern California where the CHP are somewhat strict. I have an 07' TL with ebony interior. I went with 5% out back and 20% on the two fronts. It looks great and saves the leather in the back with the darker tint. I haven't got a ticket yet. It looks great b/c no one can see in the back even when looking in the window and up front, they can only see a silhouette. I wouldn't be too worried about backing up especially if you have an 08' with the back up camera.
For sure, if you have lighter interior, go darker, and if darker interior just know that it makes the tint look darker.

(Also helps from getting pulled over by pulling back your sunroof. Little more light may be the difference between being unnoticed to getting pulled over.)

I have always done legal on the front windows (43% here uggh!) and 5% on the back. I love the way the darker tint looks not to mention the feeling of being hidden. I'm a privacy freak so I like it dark.
