Here is the question: What is the longest you have parked your TL (with navi) without starting it and did it then start up OK? Mainly I am interested if you have parked for 4 days or more.

Or to put it another way, has anyone measured the ignition off current draw, and if so is it normal?

Why I ask -

1. There have been one or two posts on other forums (Edmunds, etc.) of people complaining about parking a TL for 4 days or more and comming back to find a dead battery. Note that I am not talking about or interested in the so called temperature readout flatline problem (which has been known to drain batteries), I am more interested in a normal everything working TL. Maybe this is a very rare occurance. But then again maybe it's not.

2. Maybe I am just a worrying type of person and need some reasurance that if I park my TL for a week I can still start it up.

I've had no issues with leaving it in garage sleeping for that many days. Always started right up.

Thanks, thats good to know. I would like to hear from people who park outside in the cold or in airport parking lots, and so on.

I parked mine for 17 days (went on vacation); it started just fine-- well it seemed to start normally. (Which as we all know is not "just fine". Nothing abnormal or unusual/

It's been a good week that its been sitting in the garage and I started it up just now and its straight. My Benz is worse though. I left it resting for 4 days and started it and the oil just spewed out from the bottom!

There are related threads dealing with dead battery and flatline outside temperature readings.
I've had a dead battery after about 4-5 days after a flatline without driving. I also had a dead battery after 2.5 days without the flatline (but with wrong OT readings).
I just had the battery replaced by the dealer and I have Navi.

Airport Parking 8 days .. no prob

Interior light and radio left on for 5+ hours (got sidetracked during a detail) .. no prob

I think there was a batch of bad batteries, not a TL problem.

1 month in the winter. I went to Asia in Dec. and came back in late Jan. and she started up just fine. The rotors were rusted but that was expected.

I just got back from a business trip last night. I left the dome light on in my TL for five days while I was away by accident, and the car started right up. Pretty cool.

I ran into this problem once. The battery was dead after sitting for four days in my garage. You had mentioned that some people reported this issue at Edmuds regarding the temperature sensor draining the battery.

I noticed that the outside temperature sensor in the dash was not working prior to this problem. After charging the battery, the outside temp. sensor came back up and had never encountered this problem again. I've left the car for 5 days in the garage and didn't have the problem.

This might be a legitimate problem, but cannot be fixed because it's intermittent since it only happened one time in my car.

about 2 months begin Nov to Jan and then another 1-2 week intervals here and there. Always started up w/o any problem but I ALWAYS had vibration from flat spotting that went away after a day or two.

I just had this problem last week, left the car parked in the garage for 7 days came back to a dead battery. The strange part is once i got the thing charged all the navi info was there the phone book and memory seats were fine. Radio code and navi code had to be entered. Ive been watching it since then. Before that I left it sitting for 2 weeks without a problem but it was parked outdoor and in the middle of summer.

This issue of temperature readout flatline is disscussed in great detail on this forum here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/recommended-power-tap-source-trunk-92288/

I didn't really want to start another thread on this issue, I was more interested in people who do NOT have the temperature readout flatline and still lost battery charge.

However, it looks likes there are a few cases of battery drain where people never noticed whether or not they were having the temperature problem, so I guess it could all be the same problem, or it could just be a few bad batteries, or it could be something else.

People who could not start up, please tell us
1. Did you notice any problem with temperature readout or radio presets prior to loosing battery charge.
2. If you told the dealer about the problem, and if so what happened. Thanks.
