What LED's are everyone using these days?

Hey all,

I'm back on the forum lately since I got my new TL, just wondering what LEDs everyone is using these days?

I need a set of switchbacks and some reverse and license plate LEDs. I went pretty crazy before with LEDs on my last two cars but I'm planning on keeping it simple this time around.

I know about the Triton kits that Vleds has and everything but I'm not willing to spend 100s of dollars on this type of stuff.

Just wondering if anyone has tried some decent 5-6k switchback LEDs that are REASONABLY priced? Need them for my Type-S...

I'm also looking for new reverse and license plate LEDs as well, just clear white. I was leaning towards CREE style LEDs, but wanted to make sure I found some that actually FIT in the little housings for the reverse bulbs. I didn't want to order a set and have them be too big as that's already happened to me twice before in the past. Looking for a reasonably priced set that fit, are bright white, and preferably CREE style.

Any input appreciated, if you have some you like for your application and could provide a link I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Just bought some diode dynamics 5k switchbacks, got them yesterday and haven't installed yet. Also picked up 6k fog light leds from Bruce @ endlessrpm, haven't installed those yet either. HOwever, based on the reviews I have read and pics I've seen, they both should be more than adequate. Diode offers a 3 year warranty and Bruce has a 6 month warranty.

Interior (can't go brighter that that):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/330989752997?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Pure white light output and it is so much brighter than regular white LED bulb. My girlfriend also noticed that the interior looks much brighter and she wants it for her TSX too.

License Plate:

Send a message to the owner of this page. He's active on the 3g Acura TL group on Facebook. I think if you use the code light10 you can get 10% off with free shipping from Diode Dynamics.

I'm not affiliated with this company at all, but Phillip is very responsive and helpful. Ordered last Friday and received my LEDs on Tuesday

For the license plate light, I cannot recommend the iJDMToy direct replacement one enough.

It's SUPER bright.
Easily one of the brightest on the market.

VLEDS is the way to go. I've only put in a pair for my license plate lights, but they are awesome. You pay for quality with them and right now they got 10 percent off if you spend over 2o bux. 5k is the color you want.

I did all interior and license plate Vled's in 2011 and they've been excellent. The only failure was just recently when one of the license plate lights went out and I replaced with these flank bulbs.

5K WHITE 4 LED HIGH POWER FLANK BULBS 194 168 158 160LM | 1 PAIR - 194 158 168 - License Plate Lights - Shop Bulb Type

They're stupidly bright.

Anyone have good recommendations for reverse lights? Mine are bright, but not quite bright enough.

Interior all around some cheap eBay 5 SMD LED white leds. Why go with some eBay crap? Crazy cheap (10 for $3) and not too bright.
Previous owner had put 12 SMD crap in all the lights, every time I picked up my GF at the bus stop at night and kissed her it looked like I was about to film a porn scene on a nuclear bomb test site...

I'm all about improving the OEM look, not ricing it.

I definitely like the license plate light replacement kit! The fact that it is plug and play and replaces the entire assembly is awesome. I didn't want to hack mine up to try to fit CREE LEDs in there as I believe paperboy did.

Any chance I can take you up on that offer for real pics

my gf hated my all white smd LED boards in my last car too. I'll probably get some cheap white LEDs for the interior as well as I don't like it to be that bright in there anymore.

Here are the license plate pics:

Right - Old

Both new:

Pics were taken with my phone so it is not good quality. I don't have any interior pictures but they are night and day difference and I can take some if you want

Here is interior shot:

They are so bright that it makes you think that there is floor light (I was gonna do it but I don't need it anymore with these LEDs)

I have super bright dome lights, but having the footwell lighting makes a world of a difference.

Still happy with my setup which has been over a few years now:

snb331 15 SMD for front domes
snb331 12 SMD for rear domes
Generic 9 SMD for doors
7440 Cree license plate LEDs
VLEDs 921 reverse LED (the 500 lm one)
JLC lighting 40w turn signals front and rear
"Frosty" gtlightingusa LED Cree DRL (similar to shotta's bulbs above)
ebay 6" footwell LED strips
Oznium 3w puddle lights

This video showcases my old puddle lights (1W, i have 3w now) but you can see the interior lighting through my tint and license plate lights.

I can verify firsthand that GP's plate lights are ludicrously bright and I want them soooooo bad now.

He did however hook me up with some ebay 6k plate lights that definitely look 100 times better than the stock bulbs that were there.

I second that, really bright. Not my cup of tea, but I don't think I've seen brighter than GP16 license plate. It was like looking at the sun when he opened his trunk.
