Post What does your car idle?

I was wondering what everybody's car idle at? cause mine is idleling around 1500 rpm when it's in park, I live in Utah and it's winter time and all, so I know the cold weather has something to do with it, but should it still idle like that even after I drove around for a while and my engine is warm?

that is way high. Yes, it should be around 750. I suggest you bring it to service and have it checked.

What does your car idle?

Is that 750 while the vehicle is in park or is that 750 with your foot on the brake?

It's probably an easy fix but no new acura should idle at 1,500rpm when it's resting.

Yes this is normal......Only in the winter and when you first turn the car on. After a few minutes in should idle at 650. You would understand this if you had an old car.....for example I have a 91 primera and when I turn it on in the cold 40f or less and I don't press the gas pedal, the car sounds like is going to die. All I have to do is give it a little gas pass 1.5k rpms for a few seconds for this to go away.

That I know this is normal on all model TL's from 99 to 04

We have had single-digit nights around here over the past couple of days. When I start the car, it idles a touch above 1000rpm. It drops back to around 700 or so once it warms up. I haven't noticed it idling at 1500rpm at these temperatures.

It is not normal...I think you misread the question....it asks if it is normal even after driving it a bit.

RPM could still be high unless you have some reasonable driving distance against your cold temperature.

I guess not many ppl will shift to PARK and see how high your RPM will be when the engine temp gauge is still down to the bottom.

I know my RPM will be high above 1k if my engine temp is still cold as well as my tranny is in PARK. However, after driving 1 or 2 miles, the idle RPM should drop to 650-800.

I did missread the question. UNLESS your guage is at normal possition somewhere in the middle, then is kind of normal, thought not expected. If it is at that point and still idles that high then you have a problem, you just need to adjust it....very simple on my TL, don't know about 04.
