What does the Extended Warranty Cover?
I just went to a dealership and asked about the extended warranty and he said it is an 8 year 120,000 mile coverage...but i didnt ask what that covered. Curious if anyone here knows for certain what that does cover. Is it worth it?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Personal decision regarding is it worth it.
What it covers depends on who the warranty is through. If it is a Honda/Acura Warranty I think you can find the details via google search or @ hondaacuraworld.com and follow the links. Or, ask your dealer for a copy up front is the easiest.

Ext warranty should cover almost everything that the original warranty covers. I know it doesn't cover the tire, pads, rotors.... you know, the routine maintaince stuff.
Should you buy it? Well, it's an Acura, one of the most reliable machine. Did I buy it? Yes. Had a Volvo 10 years ago, and everything broke right after the original warranty. Thank god, the ext warranty saved me $3-4K. I'm too chicken to keep a car for long without ext warranty.

I thank god that I got the Acura extended warranty. My car seemed to start falling apart at 55k.
2 Transmissions, power steering pump, hood latch, rear defrost, interior bulbs, all of this has happened between 55k and 61k. I think the warranty and a great Acura service department ( Price Acura) is the only reason I still love my TL.

here's a website that has acura factory warranties for a great price. i called acura to make sure it was an authorized dealer and i spoke to the dealer on the phone. once you register at their site they usually send you a coupon for 100 dollars off. dealers tell you that you must purchase the warranty at time of car purchase or the terms of the extended warranty change. that is only partially true. as with my new 2006 tl as long as i am under 6000 miles, i can still get the same full extended warranty i was originally offered at the dealer. after that the price and length of the warranty changes because the don't consider the car 'new' anylonger. my dealer wanted $1700 dollars for the warranty. this cury acura website gave me the same 'acura backed' warranty of 7yr/100k no deductable warranty for $1160 after the 100 off coupon.

Actually, Honda/Acura Extended warranty doesn't cover the same things as the New Car Warranty. There are quite a bit of exclusions. For instance, the extended warranty only covers the airbag wiring and ECU. The sensors (like the OPDS) are not included. Extended warranty also doesn't cover rattle repairs.
Of course everybody has different experiences and opinions but IMO, extended warranty isn't worth it.

I thought the new car warranty only covers rattles for 1 year. This is my first Acura, so please correct me if my info is incorrect.
