What a day...

My car came in... i sat in it... it was perfect... my dealer tried to jack me on the pro pack, by saying that ALL the TL's come with it and i have to buy it with it. I told him i specifically never requested it, nor did i want it. He said it would cost them to take it off. I said to take off 4 pieces of plastic, wheel locks and a trunk tray? ridiculous... so i said i will take it at dealer cost. Didn't really care much... another $190 bucks... watever... so

i got off work an hour early to make my hr long drive to the dealer in pretty heavy traffic... i get there and my car looked so beautiful... so everything was great... got a great interest rate from the finance lady (who was incredibly nice). Then i told them about how the money for the down payment wont be cleared into my account till next week, cuz it seems as though certain banks need time to clear large amounts of money? But a week? so i told this to the finance lady and i asked if she would accept a post dated check... she said she cant... then i said well can u just hold my car for a week... and they said no. I know i should of prob put the down payment into my account long time before, but i still have a $500 deposit on that car? I would asssume that i still have first position on the car. I mean its not like i'm NOT gonna buy the car. I was pretty bummed... so i gotta wait another week... At this point i've waited 8 weeks... and i dont even want the car anymore... such a pain in the ass... someone give me some words of encouragement... hahahaha

Do you really not want the car anymore?? Just let them sell it and get your dough back.

If you left a deposit and have a contract, they should hold the car for you.

Now I left a deposit, have a contract and since it took them longer than originally promised to get my car, it's suppose to arrive when I'm away on vacation. There is no talk of it not being available when I get home 5 days later.

Something like that happened to me -- the dealers in California are making a killing on these cars so they know that they don't need to hold it for you. There's no written policy stating that they need to hold the car for you for X amount of days, so it differs dealer to dealer.

If they were going to charge you for the protection package, I would have just walked away. That in itself is a shady move by the dealership.

Don't waver from your position. You're the buyer, you hold the money. Do what YOU want.

Wow, you're getting screwed. When I bought my car they also tried to sell me the protection package. Told them I didn't want it and they said OK and took it off, no problem. They also added on $295 for VIN etching. I actually laughed at the guy when he said that and told him not a chance in Hell I was paying that so they took that off too. When I came time for down payment, I wrote them a check for $11K and after everything was done, I said, "oh by the way, don't cash that check until wednesday (this was on a saturday) cuz it's gonna bounce before then." Finance guy was like OK, no problem. Maybe it was because I have really good credit? FICA=800+ I also put another $4K down on credit card too.

Now you say "car came in" So you have an order that shows you didn't order the pro pack?

I think at this point... they dont care who they sell it too... especially for an anthracite/ebony with NAVI... and i dont really hold much of a buying power. I think i'm pretty lucky in itself to get 1000 off MSRP for that color and navi in Southern California. We'll see...

I told them the Pro pack was a deal breaker and they did not slap it on. I ordered mine tho, all of them on the lot have the package.

Don't they drill holes when installing the mud flaps? I wouldn't want a TL where they had installed and then uninstalled the flaps if drilling is required.

Who do you bank with? All banking transactions are electronic today, so there is no way in h3ll it should take a week to clear your account. I would switch banks. Even the old excuse of 'out of state checks' for large amounts take no longer than 48 hours from initial deposit. And the other thing I would ask is if you were waiting for 8 weeks for the car, why didn't you start the transfer process earlier?

What's the name of the dealer? That's the best way to discourage this...help another forum member to avoid what you're going through with the pro pack. I got great service, no sneaky sh!t, from Tustin Acura so I recommend them to people buying in SoCal.
