The e36 M3 is hard to beat, IMO the E46 doesn't in handling. The M3 did so many things good. Power/torque, steering, handling, comfort all were top notch. I like the TL more for its comfort and general competency than its raw handling/performance capability.
I almost bought another 1999 E36 M3 4 door with 47k miles instead of the TL but I just didn't want to deal with the potential maintenance costs and the fact that it was already 5 years old. The TL just made much more sense considering the type of driving I do. And it has a useable back seat.

1998 Ford Contour (V-6, purgatory - but saving money was the right decision for my family. This car destroyed my love of Fords.)

Those are the cars I have owned and driven. Why the Dodge? Yes I admit, I was stupid and regret driving that car for the 2 years I owned it. Manuel Chrysler Dodge service techs should be hung. Awful service, terrible communication, just plain bad. The Accord is my current car. I love this thing. It still drives like the day I got it... well with some minor mods.
