Check your back seats. Some people had a problem with water collecting under the seat and soaking up into the foam. I don't remember exactly where the water was coming in from though. If that's your problem then just do a search to find out the fix/cause.

Also, check your A/C drains to make sure they are not plugged up.

If it's A/C funk you can spray lysol through the condensor and it will kill any mold or mildew.

I had the same exact problem, it was comming from the vents even though they were not on. If you don't have the recycle feature "ON", air will still pass through. I found this to be a problem typically if I used the A/C the day before. If you are using the A/C I suggest you turn it off approximatley 3-5 minutes before you arrive to your destination. Make sure you leave the fan on and the A/C off, this way the fan will dry out your cooling coils...thus no wet funny smell.

I have the same problem. I've noticed that it's very noticable on hot days when I first get in the car and am trying to get the car cooled off. The smell is very strong.

I'll need to try phillyboi's suggestion. Could it be the filter?

Your dealer will also have a disenfectant / deodorizer that they can use.

First check to see if the condensor drain is clogged. Run AC for a while, when you stop, get out and make sure you're dripping, if not, the condensor drain is plugged. You'll definitely want the dealer to clear it out and then clean it.

I had the same problem up until about May/June. then it seemed to go away.

Now it has returned.

I think it is correlated to how I am using my A/C during the hotter months.

In the cooler months, I only use the A/C about 50% of the time, and the smell has returned!

Phllyboi is right. You definitely want to do this. Hondas seem to be notorious for this smell, so you need to try to dry out your evaporator. Run the fan on the fastest speed with outside air coming through the vents about a mile or two before you turn your engine off.

Volvos turn on the fan for 5 minutes about 15 minutes after the car is shut off to clear the vents from any moisture that is collected in the vents.

The BMW 5 series (E39) had the same issue as the TL, but came out with a TSB to add an extra drain to ensure moisture does not build up, and a spot to spray disinfectant in.
