Weird dash brightness question

On a couple of my older cars - late 70's hand me down and a beater car from the 80's (don't really know where that one came from) - the dash brightening knob would always get a "burned out" spot - meaning there was a place when rotating the brightness where the dash lights would go out - almost like a spot had burned through from always being set in the same position. Is this avoided now due to being electronic in the dash like it is in our cars? (I know - electrical engineers are laughing or doubled over in pain from that description)

Just curious.

Yes you're correct this is no longer a problem with modern electronics.

I'm a electrical engineer but not laughing just trying to inform
