Warming up...
Warming up...
Do you have to warm up your TL, or just get crackin? I know in my avalon i always warmed up for like 2 minutes cuz it was revving so high when i started it up in the morning. How do you guys do it? and has anyone consulted a professional about warming up new cars?

I sort of take it to the extreme......
I start the engine and make sure it goes down below 1K rpm before I get going.........
May be too much for some, but I did it to all my cars, and never had any problems ....
Cars I have/had
91 Acura Integra, 94 Honda Civic, 97 Honda Accord, 98 BMW M3, 01 SAAB 9-5 Aero, 03 Nissan 350Z, and the latest addition....04 TL....all were brand new when I bought them...

Everything I've ever read, plus my own experience, suggests that warming up for more than a minute or so in "normal" weather conditions is hard on a car. I start mine and go, albeit a little slowly for the first couple hundred yards to let fluids circulate.
I would qualify this by saying that, in extreme cold weather conditions, this would change. When I lived in Edmonton, Alberta, I used to warm up for up to five minutes...mind you, it was 40 frickin' degrees below zero, and the warm up was as much for my benefit as the car's

One thing about the New TL - the engine warms up about twice as fast as my 02 TL did. Usually in two blocks the temperature gause is at 1/4 already. This is nice in the winter time because you get almost instant heat.
