VSA On or Off?

What have you noticed when driving with the VSA on vs. off? Spinning the tires is a lot easier

Yes breaking traction is more of a problem (as in easier) with the VSA off. If you are of a mind to race the car (drag racing, that is), you want to turn off VSA and use whatever skills you have to run the car. Hiowever under normal everday driving, you should keep your VSA on at all times. This is a wonderful feature that can help you in the event conditions warrant its use. If can help keep you out of an accident and/or keep your car from being suddenly redesigned.

Yes I agree with Southernboy and also to mention for the people that live in areas where is snows such as the North East VSA can be good both on and off depending on the condition. Its good to turn it off when driving up a hill because you can put more power and burn through the snow. Its also good to leave it on while driving on a straight road in the snow because it helps keep the car from losing control without trying to hard.

I guess it depends on your location. It is mostly warm here so I have it off more than on, but i also have a 6 spd. If it is raining or the weather is bad I will leave it on.

Yep, you're right on both counts there. If you are about to get, or are already, stuck in snow, turn off VSA. It will conflict with your attempts.

I also have a manual and I would highly recommend leaving it on most of the time under normal conditions since it offers a major safety feature.

Consult your owner book for many features and systems that try to outdrive you on the TL
Traction control- ABS- speed sensing devices....
Practice with them NOW before they kick in sometime~

i agree with the above posts. if your already stuck in snow, VSA wont help much because it wont let your tires spin to try and break free. but be aware of your surroundings when trying to break out of snow.

Leave it on for normal day-to-day driving. The car it saves may be your own.

Besides, spinning tires is just wasting power and tire tread - you want power to propel you forward, no tkeep you sitting in the same place.

Does turning off the VSA, completely turn it off?

I ask this because I have a few friends with LX chassis Dodges (Magnum, Charger) and they mentioned that their version of the VSA is either On, or if switched off, is put into a less active mode, but still remains on. If they want to get it completely off, they need to mess around with the ECU. Apparently there are some other cars out there like this as well.

I personally don't turn the VSA off, except if I need to get out of the snow, or the one time I was curious if it really worked (it does).

Yes, if you turn it off, it's off.

*Very* unlikely anybody I'd be interested in impressing is going to be sitting at the same light at the same time I am.

Maybe other people have a lot of people they need to impress?

Making a U-turn shouldn't make any difference unless you're in the habit of breaking traction when doing so.

I leave it off when partaking in "spirited driving" (mountain runs, etc...)

Supposedly the SS shifts are crisper when VSA is off...
