Excited to make a trip to Paul this Saturday. Going to request his expertise to inspect my car and be enlightened with his knowledge with the TL-S! Just want to have a peace of mind with my car and bring it up to date, if there's any work leftover to do.

Wait, you're visiting the Paul that was banned from this forum?! The one that hacked up a 6spd swap?!

Good luck!

I guess I've been checking older forum posts... Guess he's not so well-known after all... Having second thoughts now.

"Paul, the star master mechanic in Northern NJ" Paul?

or the "NVA-AV6" Paul from Northern VA that did Frosty's transmission?

Easy to mix up, but not the same person

The Northern Jersey Paul! Oh man, I should definitely put more context in my posts... Didn't know that many Pauls worked on TL's... Haha

Here's the thread about the banned Paul. I just read it for the first time the other day, insane story. Glad you're seeing the right Paul!

Fun fact, they're both banned members (acrdr and NVA-AV6) here on Acurazine, for performing services to members without being a vendor.

Both banned? I'm not so sure. NVA-AV6 Paul who colossally screwed up that transmission job, probably, but acrdr? Northern NJ Paul has 100% positive reviews on here and he's the ONLY one allowed to touch this 3G TLers car.

Thanks for the clarification.

If anyone is wondering, Frosty is still alive and well. Lives under a cover now.

I wish Paul was in my area, I would literally take my TL to him for everything.
I also remember Frosty, oh what a whirlwind that kid was......he did however link a solid set of DRL bulbs.
Those lasted about 5 years on my base TL before blowing, so not all bad lol

So, they are BOTH Banned...due to them not being vendors on the forum? But one is because he majorly screwed someone over...?

Update
UPDATE: Visited Paul this morning in Northern Jersey (no, not the Paul in Virginia that messed up a swap). I have nothing but praise and great things to say about Paul - very honest, thorough and kind.

I made the visit to him to have a peace of mind with my '08 TL-S 6 speed (I want this thing to last another 100k plus miles). He took his time to look over my vehicle and eased all my concerns. I'm one of the very lucky ones that live around him (about a 30 minute drive) and I will most definitely be back for all my major maintenance work!

No issues, no leaks, just annoying chirping from my clutch fork, which I'll deal with until I perform some clutch maintenance (of course, with Paul). He really knows his stuff and worked on many AZine members' TL's. Time to get my new front bumper on the car and work on the aesthetics, now knowing all my mechanical parts are working fine! Will keep y'all posted!

Thank you Paul and thank you AZine members for connecting me to him!

In 2010 coming off the GSP in the rain I slid my 07' TLS into a curb at 20 mph. Had it towed to the dealer & they replaced the sub frame and other parts. Ever since then the alignment would go out every few hundred miles and the car pulled to the right badly. At times there would be a wobble too. I brought it back to the dealer but they said everything was fine. I gave up with alignments and just lived with it. A shop I brought it to installed an adjustable ball joint, which helped but the problem still existed. Last fall I was at a cross road, with 150,000 miles do I put $$ into it or let it go? I decided to have parts replaced in the front end, ball joints, bushings, control arms, motor mounts, 4 new struts etc. BUT who would do it? A dealer would be ridiculously expensive PLUS I was concerned their tech wouldn't have the experience to do it right. I brought it to Paul, he's 20 minutes from my house and he was a real nice guy to talk to. He did everything on the car plus a few other things & when I got the car back I was impressed! I got it aligned and it was perfect, and the alignment problem solved. Even today it's still perfect. Paul is an excellent tech & HONEST. I'm bringing to car to him again soon for some maintenence items to be done. He is definitely the go to guy.

What did he do to fix the issue?

I knew there was a bent/damaged part in the front end that the dealer should have replaced but didn't. It would be difficult to identify which one so I decided to rebuild the entire front end. I suspect it was a bent control arm. With 150,000 miles it was time to replace parts any way.

A bent control arm from a 20 mph impact? The front control arms are hella beefy. I'd be pretty surprised if that was it...

I don't think that even our resident curb eating @justnspace has bent a control arm

Anyhow, glad he got it fixed for you
