Vibration: Not sure?

For those that have reported vibration problems, what exactly does this feel or sound like? I recently replaced my tires with the Michelin Pilot Sports A/S. Very much pleased with the ride and performance of the tires. My original replacement were the Pirelli P Zero Nero MS. Not pleased with Pirelli at all. Fortunately, Discount Tires gave me a full credit for the Pirelli's. My current problem now is that I'm not sure if what I'm hearing is actually some vibration issue. I think I feel/hear a slight hum which only sounds this way at 55 - 60 mph. Am I focusing way too much on the reported vibration issue in general? Or, o I have a valid concern that may need to be addressed by Acura? Other than this issue, I'm very well satisfied with my car.

The hum at 55-60, which is 1500rpm, has been diagnosed as either transmission hum or driveline hum. Try going into SS and downshift to 4th, the revs will go up to about 2200 (don't remember exactly), and see if the vibration goes away. If it does, then it is one of the above two, and I have read here several times that Acura says this is acceptable and they are not working on a fix, but that could change anytime if enough people report a problem in this area.

IMO, I thought resonance of exhaust system is one of reasons too...?

FWIW, I get a resonance at 51-55 MPH which sounds very consistent with the description in this thread. It appears to be a harmonic which I find a little surprising in a car which is reputed to have had extensive application of NVH techniques as part of its development cycle. On the other hand, I do not think that this is a serious problem (ie something that will intensify or something that indicates a nascent defect in my particular car which will come back to haunt me in the future).

Having said all that, I think it would be useful for members of this list to keep track of this apparent characteristic of the car to make sure that this really is only a relatively benign NVH issue...

Just a thought!

TOV ever tested that average reading was 72 dBA in 5th gear, and 66-67 dBA in 4th gear.

What was the problem with the Pirelli's? I also have the Michelins and am happy with them, but briefly considered Pirelli.
