Question

I have slightly vibration from this tranny/engine/exhaust resonance/whatever it is at 50-55 MPH/5th gear/1500 RPM. This is only vibration I have in my 04TL.

I'm not going to ask for so-called-new-design EL42s. Dealers may require to run some diagnosis before swaping your old EL42s, I don't know what is the standard by Acura, but it may take some time to get the new EL42s. I don't want to waste my time and listen to another BS from dealers, so probably may just get my new own tires before the start of 05 Winter.

Does someone saying these NEW EL42s experience vibration... this would be terrible...

i have new el42's no vibrations. the weather has been cold here and the car has been sitting overnight everyday. i get up early in the morning and drive with the tires cold and get up to 50mph pretty quickly, so the tires haven't warmed up yet. there is no vibration.

if you bring it to the dealer they will probably have to diagnose the problem before they give you new tires. if its crappy tires then definitely follow thru and get new ones from dealer. even if you have to go through some trouble go get it. if you are still uncomfortable with them after you get them take the new tires to a local tire shop and trade them in and pay the difference for some michellin pilot sports. you'll probably get a really good credit for the brand new tires. so the difference in cost will not be that bad and you will have a great set of tires with awesome performance.

I think I'm among the lucky. I have a 5000 vin (bought back in October) and have no vibrations with the EL42's. Of course now having said that my tires will probably summarily disintegrate as I hit 50 on the freeway.

I have lost the battle with my dealer to swap my replacement EL42's for Michelins (or anything else), and they will be installed this afternoon. I hope after I drive them tomorrow morning I can report that the vibration problem is solved. Will keep you posted.

Ravi, don't let acura bully you, they know of this 1500RPM vibration that occurs at 50-55mph, it is seperate from the tires/wheels and they have no fix for it. Note that new tires and reballancing originals do not fix the issue.

So I have a question, I have 3 tires which have 0304 and the other has 0204. Does this matter? Also, I do get a vibration when I hit 50mph everytime I am driving. I have only had my car for a week and was hoping it would go away.

Complain and have them start the dignostic process (rebalancing of the tires comes first) and let them figure out what is wrong.

Hopefully it is just a rebalance of the tires.

so what are you saying? its not the tires? isnt that even worse since it could be a transmission or engine problem?

Ravi,

Several posts were deleted when they had a system problem, but Acura was telling people that it is an exhaust resonance issue and this vibrates the car at 1500rpms which is around 50-60mph. Also at this point there is a increase in sound level (TOV.net measured 6dB increase) in the car.

Search for 1500, you will see complaints about this, unfortunately the posts that detailed this are gone (maybe it was Acura??) due to the system issue.

Also at MDX.org, they are having a simmilar exhaust resonance issue at 2000rpms, so it is believable.

I have not gotten mine fixed, instead they are saying it is "Normal for this car"

I hope it is your tires (mine also vibrated) only

Congratulations are in order then, I guess then it is not normal for the car as Acura says?

i checked to see if i have the vibration in SS mode....i dont...only happens in AT mode
i guess its the 1500 exhaust rattle or somethin

ive also noticed i can feel the exhaust noises at 60km/h when the car shifts to 4th or 5th at 1500rpm...
