Verizon's V710 is out!

Well, sort of. (Consider this a slightly late April Fool's Joke - Let the Flaming Begin!) :toothless

Bigheadbudda has one of the few V710 prototypes in his posession. You can read about it and see some blurry pictures of it here.

In some of the pictures it looks a little large - maybe quite a bit larger than the V60. One very good thing that Bigheadbudda said was that the Bluetooth sound was clear!

That looks like a huge phone. Let's see how long it takes Verizon to get it out.

I'm still waiting patiently.

The date on his site shows pictures were posted on 23-Mar-04, so it was not quite 3 weeks ago. I just saw it today for the first time.

After holding my V60 in my hand similarly, I think the V710 is almost exactly the same size. He's got his hand a little far back in some of the pictures, and that makes the phone look larger.

My contract is up soon and they usually offer you deals on new phones when you re-sign. I wonder if this phone will be included in the offer?

Pretty sure that every phone is included....that being said, I think this phone will still be in the neighborhood of $300 with a two year contract...I will be camping out in front of the Verizon store the day I find out this is bring released.

I have a Samsung a530 (Verizon) and SonyEricsson T616 (AT&T). There's nothing that would convince me to get this oversized piece of crap V710. Based on all of my experience with poor Motorola quality (I've owned 6 Motorola cell phones - all of which have cracked or had antennas fall off), worthless stupid trash employees, and high prices ($300-350 sounds about right).

Good luck to all that get it, but I'll wait for another vendor to exceed the V710 on features and quality.

You must not have owned a StarTAC. I won't blather on again about how reliable it is.

Still have mine after several years and I love it! The buttons are actually large enough to use to dial.

I would think 300-350 is the price, -100 for 2 year contract for 200-250. Stupid phones, pay for all the features u could care less about. How much is the V600, has to be similiar in price

All new generation phones seem to fall into this price range initially. That just seems to be what the market will bear in terms of what new toy adopters are willing to spend for the latest and greatest phone.

As for moto phone quality, I have to agree with the others that mentioned the star tac. I had one for about 5 years and the thing was awesome. Traded it last year for an LG 6000 after the old boy started showing signs of age (the phone, not me ). In a lot of ways, I like the star tac better than the LG.

I can't wait for the v710 to come out....

When is the V710s release date....has Motorola issued a date yet? Has Verizon spoken up yet about Bluetooth, or is everyone who works for Verizon being kept in the dark..LoL.

kinggeorge, it appears that May 1st is the "insiders" date for release with most thinking it's going to be in June.

Go to the Howard forums for more info. This link might be of use

One doesn't need to wait until the contract "is up". One can begin a new contract at any time, and Verizon will gladly lock you in for another year or two and offer a discount on a new phone.

AND another thing. Am I the only one that doesn't care if my cell phone has a camera? Why can't they produce cell phones that have better sound quality? I don't need the extra gadgetry; give me a phone that works well!

well at least you verizon users have to wait less for a BT phone while nextel users are clueless on when it will be available.

this is the reason why i went to nextel. little more expensive but works great for me. you can go deaf on their speaker phones too. but their phones are advantage and a disadvantage at the same time.

Amen, brotha! Preach now! I agree! That's why I'm still using my 3.5 year old StarTAC 7868, because a phone is to TALK ON! Not take pix with! The ONLY reason I'm interested in the V710 is for safety on the road with my handsfree system. The camera on that phone will rarely see use...

No, you're not the only one.

As a matter of fact, the first thing I will need to do with my V710 is totally destroy the camera beyond any possible use (You think I'm kidding? I'm not.).

I work at an engineering company, where cell phones with cameras are not allowed anywhere on within the building. As far as I know, none of the major engineering employers in Phoenix allow cell phones with cameras.

I wish that the phone manufacturing companies would offer the stupidly useless cameras as a plug-in option. Or better yet, a "with camera" phone or "without camera" phone for the same model.

The ironic thing is, many of the companies that produce & design these phones probably won't allow them on their own premises (if they are anything like the companies I have worked at).

I agree. I don't want a camera in my phone.

These pics were probably taken with a second v710 camera phone. Or maybe through a coke bottle.
