Verizon v710 Bluetooth won't work...
I just got off the phone with two different reps for Acura HFL (HandsFreeLink) and both explained to me that the Verizon phone coming out won't work with the 2004 TL. Regardless of the fact it will have Bluetooth, it won't work because it uses CDMA technology and not GSM for cellular transmission. Apparently, there is a profile within the car specifically for GSM, not CDMA. So the phone "may" pair, but no phone calls can be made.
BTW... I didn't call about the Verizon phone. I just wanted to know what phones they had the most problems with. They volunteered info on phones current and upcoming.
So maybe some of our wait is over. I want to use Bluetooth and will have to look into ATT, Cingular, or T-Mobile.

The Cellular technology shouldn't matter...it depends on the Bluetooth Profiles available on the Phone and HFL. As long as the V710 Supports the Handsfree profile it should work just fine.
Note: I used the work "should"...that's computer speak for "You won't know until you try!"

I don't completely understand, that's why I provided the number for others to call and check themselves.
I don't care either way, I jus want to use the bluetooth system. I hate paying for something and not being able to use it. I mean, what if it's broken? How would I know?

The Acura reps you spoke with are misinformed. Bluetooth has nothing to do with CDMA. I use a SE T608, a CDMA phone, with SprintPCS, a strictly CDMA provider. It pairs up and works flawlessly with HFL. The T608 is included on Acura's own list of HFL compatible phones.
If Motorola implements BT correctly (and Verizon doesn't deliberately cripple BT functionality in the firmware), the phone should work, regardless of the provider's wireless protocol.

I bet they do not know what HFL is. Also the bluetooth handfree profile version difference is the only factor that will determine if the V710 is compatible or not. I hope it'll work with HFL. Anyone knows what BT HF version V710 have?

Yeah, that's some pretty poor info they gave you there. But either way, I'm still happy I just swithed to cingular. HFL works great and I just passed my 2 week trial period, so there's no turning back now. Just have to pay the verizon ETF. $175, GULP!
Hey BlackSunshine,
The rep gave you some misinformation. The Acura HandsFreeLink "will" pair up and work great with a CDMA phone. I know this to be the case because I have this setup and I have it using Verizon's CDMA network. This is not the norm and both Sprint and Verizon will not assist nor offer any support. I bought a Sprint Sony Ericsson T608 on ebay. I then unlocked the phone and programmed it to work on Verizon. It's not the best setup (web access and text messaging don 't work) but the handsfree works flawless. I fully expect that the motorola V710 will be compatible with the TL for pairing and making/receiving calls however as far as what displays appear on the MID remains to be seen. Some phones display more MID information than others. Even though I have the T608 I too am waiting for the V710 to be released. I miss being able to send text messages.
