Hey guys. I feel the need to tell you all a story since we're all here because we like spending money on our cars. So today I got my new Atlp v2 quads delivered. I can post pics if anyone really wants to see more of them. Anyways I'm assuming that like others after spending over 1000 bones on a part one would immediately want to slap the part onto their car. Unfortunately for me the day before my bithday (Jul 26) some douche in a crappy wan essentially t boned the back half of my beautiful NPB TLS. He managed to damage both my side doors, blew my rear tire apart and did some minor damage to the area behind my rear tire. It was taken to the Acura collision dept. essentially the next day and I was told they didn't have any other cars they were working on so repair would start immediately. I received a call this past Tuesday saying my car would almost surely be done by Friday (tomorrow) and that it was being taken out of paint on Tuesday, after 3 days of painting??? Anyway I was told today that it actually came out of painting today and that tomorrow afternoon they would finally check if anything in the suspension was damaged (almost 3 weeks later). Now they're telling me they hope to have it done by Monday. I don't understand. It's like they managed to only tighten a single screw per day. The fun weekend I was supposed to have installing my new exhaust is no more. Anyone have similar experiences?

It's all good man. You're alive and well.
You're gonna look back and realize it wasn't that big of a deal. But I do remember being pretty impatient for parts. But honestly, we are pretty privileged to have money to spend on ridiculous car parts.
I can't believe such thick skin Marcus from Heeltoe and Nate from CT-E has.

I don't know bodywork that well, but I do know it takes a long time. Back in '02, my BMW was keyed all around the car - it took about 2 months for a complete repaint. I also had a '99 Jetta with about 8K in frontal damage which took 3 months to fix. I have no clue why it takes so long, but it just does. Like you, i was getting pissed, pissed, and more pissed - it doesn't help.

Because insurance companies are just like the government. You owe them in any way, they will have every law enforcement on your ass to get what's theirs. BUT, if they owe you they will take there sweet time because no one wants to give up something.

I understand your frustration. You'll get your car back soon, and the best part is you weren't seriously injured!

Good thing it wasn't your Dream TL.
Most shops are found to be undependable, just the nature of the business owners. Just hope that the job is done properly and no flaws when you finally pick it up. Go over the paint/body closely.

You have to give them time to do OUTSTANDING work.
if you rush them, they rush the job.

We live in a microwave world, we want everything this instant.

As someone who worked at a body shop (5+ years), other customers do come in periodically.
Your job at most would make sense to me if it took about 3-4 weeks. Of course depending how busy they are.
Anyways, patience is a virtue and while they are at it and they are painting your trunk, you should ask them to debadge it for you for free.

My start: 2007 NBP TLS 90k miles (yuck)

My Dream TL:

-2007 NBP TLS with 500 miles (not gonna happen)
-At least a 400 lb weight drop
-A brand new NBP paint job
-Ron Jon Aero Kit Front Bumper only (hope to god ron will sell me only the front)
-New TLS rear bumper (mine is scratched and dusty, dust wont come off entirely)
-Tein SS coilovers and 1-2 inch drop
-Lexani LT705 19 inch wheels
-HID fogs
-HID Daytime Run Lights
-Blacked out front lights
-Darker Window Tint
-Engine makeover (better pistons? Cams? etc.)
-Turbo kit (would rather drop the 5k on something better, though I do have a 5k AR-15 I could sell to cop one)
-AEM V2 intake (have this)
-RV6 Pre-cat deletes
-RV6 V3 J-Pipe (have this)
-ALTP V2 Quads (just received yesterday, need to install)
-Ultimate cooling mod (want to do if I ever get the balls to cut up my baby)

Id love to revise this based on your guys ideas, and Id love to hear your opinions.

When they call and tell you it's ready, don't be in such a hurry to get it back that you don't give it a thorough inspection.

sorry to hear about that. The time just depends on the shop and the insurance company. The shops I've used in the past get parts the next day and in the mean time start dis-assembly and inspection for any further parts that may be needed. They install/prep the parts that arrive and do the actual body work in the following days. Last few days they paint it and let it cure.

When a buddy of mine backed into a truck, it took about 4 days for them to repair a rear quarter panel on an accord (it was crushed in), put on a new tail-light, refinish the bumper and repaint the C pillar all the way to the front and have it done flawlessly. Then again he paid cash for it and didn't have to deal with insurance.

For any of the members reading this, in the future consider body shops other than what the dealer uses. Post in the reigonal sections and look there for some recommended ones and non-recommended ones. Also you can also google exotic car bodyshop + city near you and find some good ones. The shop I recommend near me does work for ferrari+maserati and as well does a good deal of work on custom cars like 1000+ WHP supras and whatnot.

Agreed. My friend's mom's SUV was side swiped and was very minor, but it took the "shop" 5 months to get it fixed. The insurance company took their time for 4 of those months.
