Various Timing Belt deals across the country

Hey guys. It seems like every time i stop by this forum, everyone's talking about timing belt deals, and if its a good price. I thought id put together a list of dealers with specials. Please read what each of them offer. it seems like none offer the tensioner, but I told the dealer to change mine for the low low cost of $160 . In the end, it was still a decent deal, done fairly quickly.

Also, note that these are Honda dealers, but they all should have no problem on working on our TL's. Just call ahead to be sure. You could also try get a closer, more local dealer to honor the coupon. Another thing is to be prepared to get talked to about other services. They arent making much off these specials, and the will probably try to tell you other things that are "wrong" with your car. The guy came to me with a list with some valid problems (engine mounts), and some BS problems (brake fluid which I had just done a month ago :angryfire). I guess you should always expect them to bug you about something at the dealer, but I just wanted to give you guys a heads up.

Hope it helps! Let me know if any of the links go dead or if you have any additions to be made.

Sorry for the false hope. I got almost the exact opposite reply from Brickell Honda. I called in and asked about my TL. The guy just said "Yea, we do those. Its the same as an accord". I can pretty much guarantee you that it will work in Miami. He says he see's plenty of Acuras come through.

Also, on top of that, it seems that Metro Honda of Indian Trail, NC will do the TL but for 489, saying that its a 6 cylinder so they charge more.

I also got excited when I saw it because I thought it was a dealership in my province but it's not.

He claimed that the deal was for the 4 cyl. accords and because the TL is a v6 it would cost more.

hamiliton honda is the only dealership with common sense i've encountered.

They are aware honda's and acuras are the same. Plus, its generating A LOT of business for them.

I'll drive the 3 hours again just to have them change my belt again in 100k miles

Well he lied to your face (or ear) since 4-cyl accords haven't had timing belts for like 10 years now.

Definitely don't go there.

BTW: $400 for just the belt and rollers installed is not a good price. You can get the kit from Gates for like $77 that includes a Gates belt (Gates/Unitta makes Honda timing belts), and the Koyo bearings (Honda uses Koyo as well). Kit is TCK329 and rockauto.com has the best deals.

If you want the water pump and tensioner as well, Gates sells that kit with the timing belt & rollers for $163 on rockauto. Only thing that is not OEM is the water pump, but it's still outstanding quality.

This way you can call around and price labor and get a better deal.

there is a difference in 4 cyl and 6 cyl timing built work.. I called around a few places.. dealers and non dealers and they gave the same info..

that said I did the Hamilton NJ place and they were great.. price was cheap and work was good.. they dont make or lose money on it.. but after you go there you would want to go there again for anything else if you live close.. their customer service and shop itself is great.. I drove 1 1/2 hrs to get the timing belt changed.. such a great deal.. wish i lived closer cause I would go there more often for other stuff

For $163 you can get all those parts PLUS the hydraulic tensioner in a Gates kit from Rockauto. Don't waste your money. All the parts are the same brands as the OEM/Honda ones except the water pump. Save your money. Save your money. Save your money.

So a friend of mine suggested I call back the Honda dealer in Ontario to see if a different person in the service department would give me the deal so I went ahead and called today and the guy said its only for v6 accords and I said it's the same parts so couldn't you do it for the same price on my tl and he said let me verify that. A minute later he comes back and says I'll take care of it for you. Hell of a deal for $389. I'm not due with the miles yet but I'll go ahead and do it since I've passed the 7 year mark.

exactly. I made sure to get his name and confirm with him that when i come in for my appt he will be there to make sure I get the deal. I talked to a different guy last time though. Apparently, one who didn't know what he was talking about. But this guy was knowledgeable and reasonable. His name is Keith for anyone in the area looking to get a timing belt deal.
