Used TL Purchase

Hey guys, new guy here with a few questions. I've searched through previous posts tonight, but forgive me if this has been answered 100 times before. I decided not long ago to put my car up for sale thinking it would never sale in this economy. Well it looks like it has and i'm off to look for something else to drive. I've loved the looks of the TL's since the 04 year and decided to look into them. My question is do you guys recommend the 04's even with them being a first model year? My family used to only drive hondas and everyone of those cars were sold with over 200k miles on them with nothing but maintenance and wear items(CV joints, etc.) ever done to them. My work has dropped off to near nothing in the past few months and im looking into getting a TL with as cheap a payment as possible since im not sure when work will pick up. I also don't want to deal with a lot of problems so If I need to ante up and pay more for a 05 or 06 then I will do that, I just want to be smart with my money right now. I noticed acura's resale is pretty darn good so down the road when times are better I can easily sale it for something newer. I also must point out that the car will never be driven over 10k miles a year. I'm currently looking at around an 04 TL with around 50-60K miles....what do you guys think....should I go that route or pay more and go ahead and get an 05 or 06? I'm just not wanting to be nickel and dimed to death. Do you guys think I should chance not getting a warranty with the car or would it be smart? Thanks everyone, Tim

You are going to get a variety of answers. Some people will say to go with an '05 or later year because some '04 have had a supposed tranny problem. Others, and I am one of them, think the '04 is just fine. Mine just hit 50k miles within the last month and it is still running in perfect condition.

I have an '04 with no problems. Any '04's that had the minor issues (headliner, tranny (only VERY first ones), etc should all have been fully resolved by now (5 years after their intro). Mine has 52K miles on it so it may be one of the lower mileage ones. It also has the NAVI and is black on black. It looks like it's worth $16K right now but is not for sale. Just thought I would throw out a figure for you...
