Upper arm rest tray with slits 4 wires

i have seen from several peoples threads that they have upper arm rest trays with a little slit just big enough for wires. i have an 04. does any know what years these were made for the TL? or maybe the specific part #

here is an example of what i am looking for in this thread. it is on the driver's side on the bottom left of the 11th picture

He said he has a Type S so I'm assuming you'll find that part in an 07-08?

I put my phone charger cord in the lower armrest bin charger receptacle and run the cord through that slit up into my phone in the upper bin.

theres also a hole from the compartment under it to run wires to the second compartment on top and so on to the outside i believe. i run a charger through there to my ipod which is placed in the top compartment and a cassete ipod adapter wire runs into the top one too. kinda like a ghetto ipod sync but it works.

I had never seen the slit being described here and so I went down to the garage to have a look at my armrest. I have an '04 and it does not have it. (It has the hole allowing one to run a wire from the lower compartment to the upper, but not the slit allowing for a wire to run to the cupholder lid.) Interesting.

To be clear, I understand the slit in question to be the one that is circled in this picture taken from the thread linked by "ttribe." The hole further to the back for a power cord is there in all 3G TLs.

Right. That's the one I was referring to. My understanding is that this was added in prep for the 07-08 model years given that those ones had an aux port. They started showing up on some late-year '06's (I bought mine in August of '06).

OK, OP was asking about a channel or groove at the front of the upper compartment rather than the slit/hole at the back of the compartment.

My '05 does not have that channel/grove.

i know it came out in the later 06 models. mine was an early 06 and doesnt have it, but others made in later 06 do. i would assume any 06+ would work.

I don't have the slit, but I am still able to put a wire through it and use my IPod, and the arm rest still closes. I don't think it's worth buying a new piece just so you can have that slit.

I don't have the slit circled in red either, But i put the wire through anyways also and it closes just fine. I can still pull the cord through with a little resistance and I don't think it's messing up the wires inside (creasing). I like to keep my phone on the cupholder deck/lid thing so I know who's calling and using the MP3 function etc. on my phone.

yes i do the same thing but i do not want to put an excessive amount of force on the wire of my isimple adapter. i also have the other cord set up so that older ipods work or so that people in the back seat can operate the music. i also have a cell phone charger too comming out of the center console s the slit would really come in handy

its only 30 bucks anyways id rather pay that then mess up the wire or bend the console lid.

i bought my TL used and i think a huge fat person owned it before me, heres the clues...

-sauce stains on the right side of the drivers seats.
-IDK what stains and hard stuck on crumbs on armrest tray were talking about.
-pieces of chicken strips stuck under the rails of the drivers seat.
-i heard the guys voice before i deleted his HFL phone book, the guy just sounded like he was fat and had breathing problems lmfao
-last but not least...the leather on the drivers seat it super duper stretched out, it looks like there is a freakin bubble wear ur ass goes on the seat

About a month or two ago my mother sent a question to my father and me via e-mail and I thought it was a stupid question easily answered with a Google search, so I sent her a "lmgtfy" link. I don't think she was particularly amused.

How much did the tray cost & how difficult or easy was it to install?

The ones that dont have the slit allow you to run wires through the side.. It is less obvious.. but if you feel the underside of your arm rest while it is closed you will notice there is a little gap there.. this is how I run my wires..

I am satisfied with it

I guess all in all it could've been a little "cleaner" but it took me literally 1 minute to complete, maybe one day I'll go back and clean it up a bit.
