Uneven exhaust

How easy is this to fix?

Seriously though, how much lower are you talking?
I'll post pics tomorrow. It has always been like this. I didn't really pay any attention to it at first, but lately it's been bothering me a little. Just wanted to know what would cause this and how hard is it to fix.

kjsand: Let me know if the dealer does fix it. It doesn't really bother me that much. I'm just wondering why it's like this. If the dealer can fix it without causing other problems than great.
I guess i'm not the only one. I thought I was the only one because all the other 3rd gens I see don't have this problem. The SSM I had didn't have this problem also. The Anthracite that I had for 2 days also didn't have this problem.

The 2G had one pipe a tad lower the the other. The explanation was that the hangers were of the same thickness (weight load capacity) and that one side of the exhaust weighed more than the other. Over time the rubber hanger on one muffler would sag more than the other due to the additional weight.
If the dealership wont fix this problem there is another solution. Unbolt the muffler (I believe it is the driver side that is bolted onto the rest of the exhaust) and take it down to a local muffler shop or fabrication shop. Flip the muffler over and then cut halfway through the pipe (about two inches behind the tip) and then bolt the muffler back onto the car. This will allow you to play around with the height of the tip. Once you have it set even again weld the cut closed.
Your right subinf. It is the driver side that is bolted onto the rest of the exhaust.
It doesn't really bother me. If the dealer can fix it easily than i'll let them fix it. If it's gonna make things worse than forget it.

Go to Home Depot and buy two hose clamps. Install the hose clamps around the rubber exhaust hanger. Then tighten the hose clamps until both sides sit even. This will also prevent the exhaust from swaying back and forth.
I didn't want to start a new thread on this.
What is the most likely cause of this? Is it possible that the exhaust is not made to spec and the exhaust itself is crooked?
When you push up or down on your exhaust, is it normal for it to move just a very little bit? I mean like very little.
If the exhaust is loose I would be able to hear it when I'm driving right?

The exhaust is supposed to have some play in it, so the vibrations are not translated into MORE annoying rattles in the cabin...thats why the hangers are rubber instead of just welding the metal onto the frame (also to allow the torque of the engine to allows exhaust rotation to relieve stress from the system). If your exhaust was loose, its 50 50 shot as to whether or not you would be able to hear it. sometimes if a hanger breaks free you wont notice, othertimes if you loose a hanger and a muffler is hitting against the frame, well then it will be noticeable.
