underbody rust protection to me sounds like snake oil. there is no need to protect anything underneath from rust. acura has rust protection of the car for 5 years already. i have driven my car through 2 winters with a good amount of snow on the road(plus i go snowboarding almost every weekend) and there has not been any problem with rust under the car.

Whatever you do, I'd stay away from The Tint Shop in Henrietta. I had my TL done there and they broke the trim on my front passenger door panel and left lint in at least two windows. I'm looking for a place in Rochester to redo mine. Let me know if you find a good shop! I also think underbody coating is a waste of money...I had my 2000 TL for 6 winters and never had any problems with rust.

I would not get undercoating to prevent rust, but I would get it to kill a bit of road noise. I do my own though, as I would not want it on some parts and drain tubes.
Its mostly in the wheel wells, under the plastic liners, and on both sides of the plastic liners, that can cut road noise quite a bit.

There is new stuff out called quietcoat. Its like a paint, but much more effective than dynamat. I just use the westlies? rubberized undercoating. The more you use, in the more places, the quieter the car gets. The TL seems to have more road/tire noise than anything else, wind noise is very low, motor noise is very
low. other tires might help quite a bit, but lining the wheel wells will help
quite a bit. On the Passat, I removed the front wheel well liners and sprayed them (both sides) and the metal body under them, and it reduced road noise quite a bit. I never got around to the rear wheels.
I did more on the Jaguar, doing most of the bottom of the car, adding dynamat all over, adding thick pads under the rugs, adding stuff under the rear seat and in the trunk, etc. That was a very quiet car.
