Umm....curse continues? Part 6 !!! BLACKURA IS NO MORE

make sure you are sitting down for this...

well, as some of my familiar a-zines know. my car has been cursed from day one.

2 weeks old, rear ended. couple thousand in damage

2 days after i pick it up from the body shop, guy backs into my fender.

3 weeks ago, somebody hit my mirror and took off

2 weeks ago, somebody backed into my bumper, took off

1 week ago, somebody backed into both my drivers side doors

tonight.......

concrete wall @ 50mph. brakes locked up on a turn, no ABS.
Put me right into a wall....

RIP

3.02.2006 - 7.24.2007

this was the nicest car i have ever owned. i felt like i lost my child tonight and i dont know what to do..... sigh.... plus considering the fact that i had like $10,000 worth of shit on the car.... and just dropped 2g's on brakes like 4 days ago...

OMG! thats horrible! what kind of brake set up did you upgrade to? you should definitely contact the company that manufactured them and explain this, they may be able to compensate a little bit hopefully. im really sorry to see your baby take all this damage man.

yes i think it did. the car hasnt been right since i put on the Rotora's. I was going into a right bend slowing down from about 60-50 mph to approach the bend. i pressed the brakes, at a usual force. the past 2 days i was using very light force, since the brakes were brand new.... so i apply normal force to slow down to go right. but as soon as i pressed the brake, the car began to vibrate and shake, and not stop. then i heard my tires screeching. and i tried to turn the wheel, but the car wouldnt go right... it kept going straight. i yanked the wheel right with all my might, but by the time i got the car to start skidding to the right, it had already gone straigh into a wall (divider) that was in between the two different sides of the road.

car is fucked. i was really pissed, starting to calm down. my insurance just went down to like $1300 a year. in NY for a 23 year old with a 36,000$ and 100/300 coverage thats awesome. it is going to go up no matter what, as there was no other car involved in the accident. insurance woman said they were going to check to see if my brakes were defective. im so upset.

now. i know some older gent's may think i am some dumb young kid who doesnt know how to drive. i have been driving for 7 years, and with the total of my past three cars, i have accumulated 180,000 miles experience. not to mention rentals, loaners and girlfriend/family/friends cars. i drive about 100 miles a day everyday for work, and this particular bend, i drive around it maybe 2 or 3 times a day.

i was going about 45~50mph @ time of impact. speed limit was 40mph and it was a main road, and the ground was dry. so i wasnt being irresponsible or foolish. my girl thought i was drying to "drift" cause she heard my tires screeching. then when she realized i wasnt in control of the car, we braced ourselves.

the car flew about 25/30 feet from the wall, and landed backwards on the sidewalk.

my wheels are flawless. not a scratch. my exhaust, immaculate. the two most important pieces of my car. the brakes, are also in perfect shape.

the car has had problems with master cylinders and brake lines before. insurance will surely investigate this thoroughly.

until then. i will be without an ac'....

sigh...

Man,

Sorry to hear about this - as long as you and your girl are ok. That's the most important thing.

Good luck with the insurance and hopefully they'll do a thorough investigation on everything with the car.

holy crap, sorry for the loss, but at least you are ok. i know it may seem like a small consolation at this point in time, but its a lot bigger then it seems.

its hard to put blame on parts cause its hard to prove it but since your brakes are so new, maybe stuff wasnt reinstalled properly when they did the job couple days ago. the abs should have kicked in if everything was put back correctly.

it sounds like the brakes locked up pretty early, thats why you felt the car shaking and then the tires squeal right after. if you locked up the tires, then it starts to shudder just before the squeal and then no traction, the ABS is supposed to prevent that but the car probably didnt realize at that braking pressure that it needs the ABS to work. the brake pressure may have gone too far and it took too long for the ABS to kick in.

maybe the lines weren't bled properly causing it to not be smooth braking, i dont know if this would have anything to do with it.

I am very sorry about your car, but glad you and your girlfriend are ok

I'm on Long Island too, where was your accident?

I vote your next Acura should be a KBP TL-S. You could change your name to Blueboy (kidding)

Keep us posted.

Holy Fuck! #1 Glad you and your girl are alright. Ok I think once I get my baby back from the body shop I need to trade her for another color. It was just yesterday that I was reading about the issues you were having with your brakes and was hoping you got it resolved asap, btw loved your pics from HIN. I'm glad to hear you're alright, as you know I'm starting to think my car is cursed too.

I would def talk to your insurance company about the brakes... Do I sense a lawsuit against the manufactuer?

Damn... I dunno even what to say man. You better be staying in the TL family as you represent us well.

Damn as a new member I really feel the pain, the same shit happend to my 350z... I almost killed myself... But hey things happen for a reason, maybe your car wanted you to get a TL-S... and dude you better bust the balls of the shop holding your car till an adjuster gets there so you can take some of your stuff off... I think they should let you put the stock shit back on after an adjuster gets a chance to look at it... I have geico aswell the only thing they didn't let me remove was the Nismo shift knob... and that was cuz I no longer had the keys in my possesion

After reading the post before this, if anyone thinks that are the stupid ones. Wheels that are locked up will only go straight, plain and simple.

I'm glad you weren't seriously hurt. Is your girlfriend ok? How did you get the burns on your arm?

Did you do the brake install yourself or did a shop do it for you? This should make a lot of BBK users nervous. I had never thought of this before, but with the power of those massive brakes, it's very easy for something like this to happen.

Good luck with getting this all resolved. It's going to be a pain in the ass for sure.

That's exactly what I was thinking, that the brakes are so powerful that this can happen. It happens all the time on racing cars because their brakes are very powerful. Also, having heavy rims probably doesn't help. But thank god that you and your girl are pretty much OK!

And like NaplesTL said....I really hope you had a shop install your BBK.....

Things will workout for ya, you'll be on here with an '08 TL-S in no time....hopefully you'll be able to remove your mods from Blackura and put them on your new ride.....or the insurance gives you some money for all of it......Good Luck man......

Ouch. Those pics hurt. I'm glad you and your girl are safe. Remember, no matter how much you damage a car, it can always be replaced, but a life can't.
