Type S Tail Light Swap... thoughts please

Hi im pretty new to this forum and my car is in the shop getting fixed because a friend of mine backed into it in her ford explorer and dented the quarter panel, bumper, trunk and broke a tail light i told the guy in the body shop to order type s tail lights and side markers to replace the normal ones and he says they may not fit but i said order them anyways because i was pretty sure they could fit in easily without any modifications? is that true that you can swap type s tail lights and side markers even though the car is a 2004 Acura tl?

They are a direct fit, however on the sidemarkers the plug is slightly different and will require a bit of force to get it in.

Both are a straight swap, though I still have stock sidemarkers, so no comment there. Tail lights are kind of a bitch because you have to drop the bumper at least a bit to get to the bolts underneath the tails. Type S tails were the first mod I did, and I love the look...especially on AM. DO IT!!

Just swap over the LED boards and gaskets on the tail lights and your good to go. Side markers are a bit of a hassle but they will fit like csmeance says. I will purchase your broken tail lights if you want to get rid of them. My email is s0574049@monmouth.edu.

Only one of my original lights is broken but if the people at the body shop say these new ones fit then i will definetley let you know, im hoping that they're able to get both the tail lights and even the side markers installed without any problems. would i be able to get the side marker in my self if they were to scared to use a little more force to get it in?

They will fit, I work with them all day every day haha, all 04-08 tail lights are interchangeable. You shouldn't be scared, and its something you can do. Its as easy as pulling trunk liner aside and literally "pushing it out" and plugging it in and pushing it back in. There are two tiny clips that are attached to the side marker that you push in to be able to push out the marker. Its really easy.

how do you lower your bumper?

is there a DIY write up for lowering your bumper and not removing it just enough to install your own tail lights?
