Type S Interior - Ebony to Taupe Partial Conversion?

I've searched the threads and was interested to see if anyone has done this? Or in correlation to non Type S, a black interior TL converted to grey or tan leather seats?

I have an '08 Type S in ASM with Ebony interior. I'm picking up a full set of the Type S Taupe interior. I'm opting not to get the headliner/pillars/door inserts because I may be switching the seats out seasonally - taupe for the warmer months.

Just curious to see if anyone has done this before and has pictures to share?

Switching out only the seats (front and back) and the center arm rest.

It has been done in reverse color by someone else (link above), definitely turned out interesting but not my cup of tea.

Did some very rough photoshop of how it could look, nabbed some interior pics posted here on aZine and edited the pillars and door inserts:

Any actual pics available?

Also for Tan/Taupe/light colored interior owners - how's the upkeep compared to the darker colored interiors?

I have a 350z with the orange leather interior and noticed some blue-ing or transfer of dye from a dark pair of jeans, anyone have that experience with the lighter interiors on their acuras?

no transfer of dye as long as you condition it good.

I have parchment interior and its a bish to keep clean.

If you get the seats in really good shape, it shouldnt be too hard. But I got my car with 110k miles and the seats looked okay to me. But then I sprayed them down with Meguairs leather cleaner, and the color completely changed like night and day. Its ridiculous; I could the complete color difference as the cleaner ran down the seats.

The lighter colors tend to show more wear than the darker colors. My car has 125k miles and the seats look 10x worse than my cousin's TL with ebony interior and 185k miles. The ebony stands up MUCH better. it doesn't change color/show dye and you can see wear as obviously.

I ONLY wanted ebony interior but I got a deal on my car that I couldn't pass up. After my 95' Legend GS with biege interior I told myself never again. And then I did it again

Not sure if he paid for just the front seats or if this was for everything. But you'll be spending at least 500, if that helps answer your question partially.

$500 per seat up front and another $500 for the rear and remember you have to swap out the door panel to match the rest.

I had both interiors and the taupe can be very difficult to keep looking clean. If your anal like me I found myself ALWAYS cleaning those seats. Even if for example you have the slightest of dirty hands they will leave a dirt mark on the seats because it's very light colored. When browsing used cars I have seen some incredibly bad looking taupe seats. For your average driver that doesn't clean interiors, the seats will start to look disgusting if not cared for. They almost turn to a nasty brown/yellowish color. I'm personally a ebony/silver interior fan. Love the black headliner!!

lets not go there, when the leather surface starting to crack dust got in between the crack and forming a dark line, that just drive me nut. I also saw some Ebony/silver seat was in horrible condition at the dealership, the worst interior I ever saw was on a 07-08 NBP MT the whole car has dent almost every body panel, ton of scratch and the silver insert cracking so bad that they can rip any time. I felt really bad for that TL-S MT,even my 13 years old Accord condition is way better than that.
