Type S Competitors?

I've been shopping for a type s for a while but haven't found "THE ONE", so I've been open to other cars preferably front wheel or awd because of the winters up here.

What cars compete with the Performance AND Luxury of the Type S in the same price range (Under 25k)?

How do they compare and if any of you have driven them please give your input on which one you think is better

IS350, G37, C300 are just a couple off the top of my head

is350 is only available in rwd.
g37 is available in a AWD model (usually just rwd), but that is for the 2009+ so good luck getting that used for less than $25k
c300 is available in a 4matic model (usually rwd), and that's just around $25k.

the is350 is nice, but not available in awd like you wanted so that's out the question
g37 is sweet but pricey for the awd model since they are pretty much new (2009s+)
c300 is bleh... my brother has a 08 white c300 and his interior seems smaller and cheaper than my 08 base tl. not to mention 230HP is pretty low if your trying to get it in a AWD model. the AWD is gonna rob you the most HP so your c300 won't feel "fast" at all...

i'd choose a g37 sedan out of all these. 330hp sweeeeet

I say have patience, if you want a TL you will find one, as far as competitors go, those are some of them but like vietxquangstah said, they are pretty pricey, unless you like BMW you can find a 335XI 300hp (awd) around 25K. But I would wait for the TL, the interior is much better in my opinion, good luck with your car shopping.

BLK had a good suggestion. Keep shopping for your Type S. Pound for pound, dollar for dollar, you won't find anything better!

Look on Autotrader, tons of type S available for a damn good price. And the good thing about it, there are a lot of them on the east coast. Get a manual tho, thats what I should have waited on.

I know they made a STi version of the Subaru legacy. I'm not sure if you'll find one for the price you're looking at though. Its a pretty nice car I'd cross shop with low end bmw's, acuras, etc.

I have been on both autotrader and the black market and haven't found anything close to my location.

I'm trying yo stay closer to $20k than 25, I don't need the type s I just want one

Waiting just seems like the only option unless I settle for a base

A 2007 G35x would be great. 305hp. An Audi S4 would be nice but would suck on gas since you can only get the old 4.2L V8 in your price range.

at 19, you wouldn't really want a German car that would cost more for maintenance, repairs, etc...

i would look at infiniti mostly since they are about the same price range of the TL. also, you should check out the TSX, really nice cars!!!

Competition? Accords w/ J36's . LOL Kidding aside, TL-S is an amazing car for the money. And 99.9% of maintenance can be done at home. For example, have you ever seen how easy it is to change the automatic tranny fluid in our late model J-series Acura/Honda's? For me its easier than changing the engine oil. Many other luxury makes are made so you have to do everything at the dealer, with their damn tools to reset the maintenance lights. Etc.

Not really. Anything in hi price range is well out of warranty. And the manuals are REALLY hard to find at this point unless they have high mileage, accidents or some other issue.

My two cents No to all three. Be patient with your search and find the TL-S that fits your desires. Great automobile.

I had A G35x and i loved it.... but here you find me on the TL forums. I would say test drive the cars on your list to see which one fits you best.
