Two questions about your butt:

... And the big impression it has made on your Driver's seat.

(1) Has anybody successfully had Acura (or a dealer) replace the driver's seat, or the stretched leather surfaces?

(2) If you had a changeout or repair of some kind, are you happy with the results?

I've 7700 miles and 5 months on my TL and do not have this "butt print" everybody talks about. I've conditioned my leather once in these 5 months though.

The design of the leather; it's flat and smooth. That's the reason why you have a butt print. I don't really mind it, and I think the leather will never actually have a real problem from this (tearing etc). The leather is pretty good quality stuff, it's just the way the seat is designed that makes the print happen.

A diet may help with this problem.

Many people have this problem. So, irrelevant jokes are not appreciated in this forum. Thanks.

In a recent similar thread, someone suggested that the "butt prints" may have nothing to do with the leather, but rather be caused by the type of padding underneath. I'm inclined to agree. I have these "butt prints" in my driver's seat (they don't bother me in the least, and it frankly surprises me how much people are obsessing about them) but looking closely it seems that the leather is just conforming to the padding underneath, and it's actually the padding which is developing the, ahem, dimple.

Try doing some squats and running more. If you got a wife or girlfriend, she'll appreciate it too. And if you're getting more attention from women, I don't think you'll care as much about any imprint on your car seat.

TLGator: I've been saying that-about the padding material. If you have a very good supportive cushion, I don't think we will see any butt prints!!

Hmm... I guess all the kung-fu, ice hockey and brisk walks at night will help me stay in shape so when I get my TL, I won't leave a dinosaur butt print on my seat. :lol2:

After seven months with my TL, my minor buttprint is....minor. I've conditioned my leather, and I'm sure that helps.

i never understood the obsession about this whole butt-print thing..its leather, leather stretches, simple as that..And once the surface of the leather cools down from not being sat on, the butt-prints become less evident..If you don't want butt-prints, get a cloth interior.

Same here exactly (well, 5100 miles). Mine will have a "butt" print when I first get off the seat but will be gone in no time.... It's the odor my "butt" leaves after the BBQ ribs that takes longer to go away....

Seriously, I like the Zaino Leather in a Bottle... Anything and everything leaves an imprint, but they go away every time.

Actually, the leather issue really isn't a big problem for me, either.

The main reason I was wondering about this is because I'll be taking the TL in to the dealer for it's first oil change in a few weeks, and I wanted to put a list together of all the things that needed repair.

If the leather is a real issue and Acura is doing something about it, I figured that I might as well get the ball rolling on it. It I never bring it up to the dealer, it would never get repaired (if it actually needs repair).

Very, Very true. And if people don't ever complain, Acura will never bother to change our "small" disappointments..
