Turbo is achievable on our engine
Turbo is achievable on our engine
This proves it! CL Type-S engine (same as ours)
So if anyone says it would be tough with our compression ratio, it can be done.

Total Sleeper IMO. No exterior visual queues. looks 100% stock.

WOWWWW!
I don't know much about engines, but that much of a gain in an engine designed to put out 260 HP is pretty impressive.
I'll move it to "Cars and Bikes" in the morning....this could stimulate some pretty interesting discussion among engine heads here in 3G tonight....

That's allmotor from acura-cl.com. He's got a pretty crazy set up, but unfortunately too much power to the front wheels is a big problem. The power is just not transfered to the ground as efficiently. Also, launching that car must be a chore. I remember reading that he has to take off in 2nd gear off the line!
Unfortunately, Acura bumped up the compression on the J32 for the 3rd gen TLs, which also limits potential even further.
However, I would love to see a Turbo TL!

allmotor did come to a-tl.com and offer to look at the 3rd Gen TL possibilities, if someone was willing to contribute a vehicle. I'll look for the thread.
cTLgo, thanks for posting the article.
edit:
I found allmotor_2000's thread.

Ramanan did an awesome job IMO.

What makes this different is three things (IMO):
1. Large increase in hp with a relatively low psi.
2. Custom yet reliable fabrication that is a daily driver.
3. Relatively low cost (compared to many of the "custom" one-off applications).

There is NO way our car can handle that power. His is a Type S but its on a 6 speed. Out TL tranny is trash. There is no way we can achieve Turbo without beefing up the tranny. So Turbo Possible maybe on the 3rd gen but second gen GOOD LUCK. We cant even take SC nevertheless turbo. THat be sweet tho
fast

You are correct. This kit isn't the first. The one I did two years ago was the first and its mentioned in the article as well. In fact that kit is roaming around NY, so I'd watch out for it!
To clarify some of the questions. I was NA (only ran a 13.9), then went to FI (ran a 12.9), then went NA again (13.5) and now FI again. The car is pretty quick right now... probably a low 12-second car if it hooks up. We are building an auto CL-S very soon, so I'll keep you guys posted on its development.

I don't know about you, but my TL is a 6-speed.
Then there is the other side of the coin.
I live in Cali but cant afford the 6-10K involved.
Congrats on the Magazine Article Allmotor. I remember you hinted that something was upcoming.
PS: Any word on being back in town in time for Sunday?

Seriously? I am interested. How much I have to fork out and how long are you going to keep my car if we really do this. We can work this out. Other than anything...the more obvious problem is the tranny. I think that would be the biggest problem right? Or am I wrong
