TSB 07-043: Outer Door Handle Extension Falls Off
It looks like many of us have had this exact issue... I found a few threads about it that have a link to a PDF but the link is broken. Does anyone have an active link to a PDF or scan that shows details about the TSB? This weekend my passenger side door handle extension fell off.
Also any tips on replacing it myself if I go this route? In particular I think I need part 72644-SEP-A01ZF for my gray 05 TL.
Thanks!

To the OP I say go the dealer and see if there is even a TSB for it and if there is let them fix it. If not it's only a few bucks and it snaps right on.

TSB's (Technical Service Bulletin) only address common issues and inform dealership service departments how to correct them. TSB'S are NOT RECALLS, and they aren't covered if you are out of warranty.

thats what i thought. recalls you can get done out of warranty because they are a safety issue. you might be able to sweet talk the dealer into doin a tsb for you if you are a returning customer.

Mmmmmm... Anthracite
My son (2 yrs) pulled my left rear one off.
Option 1: Dealership said the TSB doesn't apply since I'm out of warranty. It would cost about $140 for parts and labor.
Option 2: acuraautomotiveparts.org has it for $9 + $10 shipping +$5 handling = $24
Option 3: Lowe's has super glue on sale for $2
I went with Option 3

The $140 was mostly for labor, I assume for removing the interior door panel, etc., to replace the $16 base plate and handle cap.

I would be grateful if you could elaborate on the use of the screwdriver, as I need to replace one of these myself.
I was under the impression that these just pop on/off by hand. Or so I demonstrated to my buddy's wife, only to find that my right rear one was missing when I got home.

A small screwdriver blade can be used to hold the base stationary while you pop the cap's end tab slot over the base's tab.

Where Did My Garage Go?!!

Dealer tried to tell me the same thing when mine fell off
You can easily snap it back on though. When you get it move that metal backing plate from it. For me I couldnt get the thing to snap on after trying for nearly 45 minutes.
Solution:
Pull the door handle out toward you while snapping the plastic cover on. It gives you enough space to use a screwdriver to snap it into place. Problem solved.

AVB for President!
I did the crazy glue thing as well because the 2nd time it happened to me I was IN warranty, but they said that the extended warranty does NOT cover trim, only failures of mechanical/electrical items. In other words, if its cosmetic, they won't fix it under the extended warranty (only factory).
The thing about crazy glue is that vibration can cause the bond to get weak over time. So far it's held up for over a year now, but I do notice it getting loose again.

One of mine just fell off for good after dodging the bullet several times (discovering it hanging off while in the driveway), so I figured it was time to pay the piper. Order online for >$17 shipped and replace it yourself with some kind of glue or adhesive for security. Not worth the gas go over to the dealer and/or my breath negotiating with a service manager that's likely to shoot you down anyway. How much is your time worth, folks? Just my two cents.

Epoxy. After loosing both of my rear caps and both fronts hanging on for dear life. I put epoxy on all 4 and they haven't budged. I give them a little wiggle from time to time to be sure.
