Trying to Negotiate

Well I e-mailed Ferman Acura and they decided it would be neat to call me in return when I told them in the e-mail, JUST E-MAIL would be sufficient for now. Oh well.

They salesman pretty much just wanted me to come in and buy the car ASAP and gave me his quote.

YOUR FERMAN ACURA INTERNET SALES PRICE: $34023.00 plus taxes and fees

The salesman kept on saling 34023 is ROCK BOTTOM price and there's no way of going below that, and that its only a few hundred above invoice.. WTF.. I see people on here buying 34023 including TTL....

Can anyone help me out...this sucks... i hate stealerships.

Yeah.. I just called 2 other dealerships.. but they are probaly at lunch at this hour. The salesman sounded just like an automated robot.. started getting annoying after a while.

I would like the 06 Blackhawk Pearl with Navigation. The only extra option I want is the i-pod connection.

Would I get in trouble to post what I got from consumer reports. I think it would help other people out.. but since its something I had to pay for.. not sure if thats illegal or not.

That is definitely too high. Depending on where you are you should be looking to get somewhere between 32000(maybe even lower in areas like socal)-33000 for the base car.

No. In fact, my dealer printed out a copy to show me what others were paying and then went below that to stop me from looking elsewhere.

What state are you in?

Ferman Acura is not a good place to negotiate! They don't take offers lightly.

I bought myne from them back in 05

Black on Black Navi/Manual, I had to order myne..so there was basically no room for negotiation.

But, I heard they're pretty much rock solid on there deals (even if the car is on their lot)

Sounds like you should find another dealer or at least walk in, offer them you $34,000 OTD and the walk out

Just got off the phone w/ one of them. I told him I want somewhere around 32,500 +TT&L

TOld him about the Ferman offer and he told me he is going to spit numbers back and forth w/ his manager.

I saw aim for 32k + TTL...but make sure you get a quote of an OTD price otherwise theyll give you a low selling price and tack on a $500 documentation fee or some other BS to make the money back

Got ya.. I was wondering how much the TT&L and all that random crap is going to be. How much should the extra be on top of the quoted price?

I got 33,300 on my 05 being one of the only two 6MT/Nav's they had. I thought it was a decent deal, plus I had $10,000 in equity, so I was actually OTD 23K and a few dollars after trade equity and $1000 out of pocket.

Okay.. I told them that they have my money if they can get me my car for 34.5K OTD. The guy didnt say yes/no yet but I'm driving over there in the next hour to test drive and talk to him in person...

OH MAN I"M SO EXCITED... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another thing. I told him that I will pay in cash and if that would give me leverage on any deals.. he says it doesnt anymore b/c banks pretty much transfer the money in 4-5 days anyways.. unlike a few years back. True/False.. what do you guys think?

Don't get too excited there young blood. Test drive the car, inspect it, and then see if you can get it for 34.5K OTD. Check for any additional fees if the price goes above that.

Make sure everything is PERFECT, don't lose sight of the fact that your're going to have to deal with this car for a long time. So make sure to check everything over and ask lots of questions. It took me almost 3 hours at the dealer even though I knew everything up front, and I STILL missed the fact they screwed up the trunk springs when installing my lip spoiler. What is 2-3 hours out of 1 day if it can prevent multiple trips to the dealer for service or ultimate dissappointment in your $35k purchase.

I already replied to you on another post, but I too got a Consumer Report car kit and offered the dealer their price $31760 for TL AT w/Navi. Two guys tried to convince me that they can't, and another dealer simply said "It's a DEAL". Remember that dealerships not only make money on markups and holdbacks but also on volume sales. If they have a car on the lot they want to move it quick!!
Don't let them cheat you on any fees. In California there is a mandatory tire disposal fee of $8.25 and most dealers will squeeze in $50 documentation fee that covers Title and License processing but that's all they should be adding. Don't go for "destination charge" - it's already included in the invoice or any other "prep" fees.

A great website to review before making a purchase is: http://www.carbuyingtips.com - they explain every detail of car purchase process.

My experience was very positive and fast. I was lucky in finding a dealer that didn't try to pressure or upsale. Coming to the dealer informed is 90% of the battle.

GOOD LUCK. You'll love the TL. I know I do.

Alright.. went to the dealership and they gave me an offer.. they said "they were scraping off the bottom of the barrel" trying to work w/ my offer.

I wanted 34.5OTD but their BEST offer they could give me was 36.8K OTD... including the IPOD.. w/o IPOD.. i believe it would be 36.4OTD.. what do you guys think?

Back in November I bought a 2006 TL Automatic w/ Navi from Ferman Acura.

I paid 36K out the door, but that didn't include the iPod interface.

I thought Ferman was tough to negotiate with, they made me work for the deal.

I initially went in a few days before the end of the month, on a Sunday afternoon, when the Bucs were playing at home, hoping it would be a slow day and they'd be willing to deal. It was slow, but they werent dealing. We couldn't reach an agreement so I left.

The next day they called me back, still not budging on price. Over the next two days I contacted several dealers between Ocala and Miami. Once I had a better price from a Miami dealer, that's when Ferman came off their original offer and matched the one from Miami. We closed on the 29th.

I thought I was paying a slight premium then because the 2006 model had ony been on the lots for a few weeks. But if they're offering you 36.8K w/ iPod, that sounds a little high. I would think you should be able to get a better deal by now.

If you can wait until the end of the month do so. If you don't get a better offer then, start pitting dealers against each other.

That sounds a bit high. Not sure what your tax and title fees are in your state but it still sounds like they are making over $1000 on you and that is too much unless you like giving them easy money.

Damn... they were not budging... the Head Sales manager actually seemed to be pissed.

This is the first thing he said to me when I said I am going to see what other dealers can offer me after I was leaving.

David (head sales): "Well do me a favor and dont come back to our dealership, we were busting our asses off thinking that we were making a sale and ..." yada yada yada.

I was like.... WTF... and then I inquired why he was being such an ass... anyways.. I will see if Ferman can give me a deal on 36K OTD..

Thanks again guys/gals!

You gotta elaborate..lol.

The head manager guy told me a story about a customer dealing w/ Regal, then went to Crown for their 2nd car. maybe it was you!?!?!?

Right now Regal and Ferman are my only options b/c I dont want to really give my money to Crown....

36.8k is crazy. And I think I read somewhere that you don't have to pay tax on car purchases in florida...is that true? If that is the case, this dealership is really crazy.

Okay.. I apolgize for these double posts.. (just trying to get my post count up) JUST KIDDING! I just think of things after I post and I tried to edit but it says I cant before 5 mins. and after 5 mins. it doesnt give me the option anymore... wow.. that was OT.

So what is ALL this hate against REGAL... so far Crown, Ferman, and someone on here have only negative things about them.

This is an e-mail I just sent out to Crown.. most likely I wont deal with them b/c my level of respect for them drastically when down.

Well I just had a quote from Regal w/ the IPOD for $36,400 OTD. I also
figured out that I dont need the IPOD so I am not wanting it anymore
b/c I found out that aftermarket is the way to go with that route.

On another note.. if you gave me your quote yesterday $36,800 OTD w/ Ipod
link, and then you take that off.. it would be $36,385. Crown only beats
me by $15 but w/o the IPOD link which I dont care for anymore. Just
some food for thought.

I talked to Ferman and they told me that they would like to work something
out for a little less than 36K OTD (including all fees). If you can
get back to me w/ solid numbers less than that, then I will be waiting for
your e-mail. Or like David said... I will just take my business elsewhere and
not bother with Crown anymore.

Easier, cheaper deal ... and a trip!

Save youself several thousand dollars by calling Bert Rabell at Ed Martin Acura in Indianapolis -- (317) 846-3800. Just bought my 2006 TL from him; easiest car deal I've ever done. For $300 you can fly to Indy, $35 will get you a cab ride from the airport to the dealership, and you can be driving your new car back to Florida the same day. And you'll save thousands over what you are being quoted in Florida.

Or while you are in Indy you can visit the Speedway and take a trip around the Brickyard!

(I am not employed by Ed Martin Acura, just a very satisfied recent customer.)

agreed^^ 36 is still too much OTD. I would say at max 34.5 OTD, I got mine for 33.3 + TTL, so maybe 34.5 OTD.

Wow someone needs to coach you on how to deal with car dealerships.

Your email above is absolutely the worst thing you could have done to throw shit in their face.

Not only are the prices you've been quoted garbage, you are doing a piss poor job of playing them off of each other.

You dont have to be honest about pricing when you know what people here are paying.

The first dealership I went to wouldnt even touch invoice on an '05 TL. I simply left and told another dealership that I left the first because they didnt have the color combo I wanted. I ended up getting under invoice and 4k more on trade in just by bullshitting them into believing that was the sort of deal I was getting at another location.

Live and learn fast because you are doing this backwards.

Hmm.. Well this is the first time I ever bought a car from a dealership.. especially at this price.

FUCK CROWN.. they are not budging... and plus.. .didnt you read what I posted above.

Regal talked to me and they said that they will beat ANY OTD price Ferman is offering. So I guess I will work the angles there.

man.. i feel like a pussy after reading Fighting TL's post...
