Trunk Release Button

It seems that the trunk release button under the dash no longer works. Does anyone know if there is a lockout or security "feature" that would do this? Otherwise, I'm off to the dealer.

Look in the glove compartment where there is a switch to disable the button. See page 83 of the manual.

Yup, that was it. Good call RonA. I guess the dealer switched it during the last maintenance for whatever reason.

Wow tough crowd. I didn't know that, but then again if I had sailorZ's problem I would have gone to the manual first.

That little switch in the glove box is a great idea, but it strikes me as odd that they didn't put an off/on switch for the glove box and console bin box. Economics, I guess.

its so you can lock the glove box after you flip the switch and you have somebody park your car so they can't get into your trunk..

Yup, I knew that. I was just commenting on the cost-saving they employ by not including switches for the glove box light. When your external lights are on the glove box light is always on regardless of the door position. This is the first car I have seen that on.

That is the same location for the one in my NSX. However, I have it controlling the power for my PS2 there.

Thanks!

This board just helped me get out of a jam today. Stupid me somehow locked my keys with the remote in the trunk while sorting through Xmas presents. Backup key turned out to be a valet key only and wouldn't open the passthrough trunk release. And of course the power trunk release on the drivers door stopped working mysteriously a few months ago. Was thinking the fuse was blown but nothing in the book was labeled a trunk fuse. As a last resort, I figured that this board would have something, and sure enough, I saw something about the trunk release button in the glove compartment, which had been flipped off. One quick flick of the switch and now the trunk release button works. Got my keys and am back in business!!!
