Trunk Latch

I dropped my friend off at his house and he went to get something from the trunk and closed the trunk on the cargo net. I didn't notice it until I got home. When I opened the trunk to get something I saw that part of the cargo net was on the trunk latch. Will the trunk latch be ok? Does it happen often to you?

This is why I always get out of the car when someone needs to get something from the trunk. I rather I do it than let someone else. This is the first time I let someone get their belongings from the trunk without me.

highly doubt the cargo net can cause significant damage to the trunk.

Wink Not to worry...

I don't think the cargo net can do any harm to the trunck latch, but the other way around is possible. The latch could damage the net.

While on this subject.... when did they stop putting a key hole on the trunk lid? There's no manual way to get into the trunk from the outside. What happens if you have a dead battery and a flat tire at the same time? Hmmm.

Are all new cars the same in this regard?

There is an emergency release located at the top of the pass-through in the rear seat.

I was about to say that (although I didn't know the page & column... ).

Also, I don't think the cargo net would cause any real damage to the latch.

On the Tsx, there is no key hole on the trunk lid but there is a button for you to open the trunk.

Many manufacturers have been eliminating the trunk lock cylinder & even the R/F door lock cylinder for the past few years.

I doubt the latch will be a problem, over & above any normal failures that occur on these (in other words, they do fail from time to time.)
