Comptech Cat Back & Rear Swaybar

Greetings:

Today I had Comptech install one of their Cat Back Exhaust systems and a Rear Swaybar upgrade on my 04 TL.

Handling is better and the new Sound is great. Performance seems to be better, but it might just be the sound.

They have a very nice facility. The work on the SuperCharger is moving ahead. No firm date on the completion of the SuperCharger.

I plan on making the SFO meet on Feb 5, 2005.

They have a Web Site with pictures. I called them and let them know about my post and your request for an audio file of the sound. Joe, in Sales, indicated they are working on some "new stuff" for their Web Site for this year and will make the suggestion about the audio file of their Cat Back on a TL..

You could fly down to the Bay Area and I will take you for a drive so you can hear it....

I too have requested an audio clip of the cat back system and as of yet have not had any luck at all!!

I will remain on the fence for this purchase until I can hear this product on the car! I have read positive reviews here, but still this is a significant amount of money to pay for an unknown (in this case the sweet sound it makes).

Any way you could PLEASE PLEASE grab an audio clip???

Also how is the performance increase? Any comments are appreciated for those of us contemplating this purchase!

Also as a side note, is your ride a 5AT or a 6MT?

Those of us with the 6spd are STILL waiting for a comparison to the stock 20mm rear sway!

k6-

Please post a picture of the rear exhaust exits if they are different. I only ask since their web site shows different tips. Plus, maybe I will see or hear for myself since I am in Oakley.

Hello:

I have an 04 TL 5AT with Navi.. I'm not sure how I could record sound. Any ideas?? As I said in my first post, the performance seems better. According to Comptech it's an increase of 7.5WHP to the car.

Worth the $$$.. No way to really tell. The Cat Back System is hand welded with much of the system being made from Stainless Steel. Some folks do not like the round tips. I asked why they didn't build the cat back with the oblong shaped tips and they indicated it would cost way too much. I can tell you the install is VERY clean. It's also rock solid..

This is my first dealings with Comptech. They appear to take great pride in their products and service. Time will tell..

The install appointment went perfect. The installation costs were in-line with a reasonable shop rate at the time indicated in their Web Site information time lines.

Hello:

Cost direct from Comptech are:

SwayBar $110.00
Cat Back $1095.00

The $1554.86 price was for both pieces of equipment and installation by Comptech at their facility near Sac, CA.

I hope this helps..

I had a Comptec exhaust on my '02TLS and all I can say is the soundclips I heard for that particular year didn't sound anything like the way it sounded when I actually installed it on my car. There was a little anoying "droning" sound when lugging the engine at low RPM's, but other than that...the sound was sweet!

Hello:

There is still a sound as you indicated. But at 55 I don't hear too good anyway. I was in an enclosed garage on Tuesday meeting some friends to go to MacWorld in SFO. One of them was in the garage as I drove in. He indicated he heard my car and it "sounded fast"...

I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not, but the I'll take it as a positive..

Wow, this would be great. I cannot wait to see pics of the MEET...

Then, we should start a new thread discussing how it sounds like... maybe someone could help to record its sound clip at that time.

Congrats on the mods... CompTech does great work...

As far as the Cat Back Exhaust, when I had it installed in my CLS 6MT before the S/C was installed, I did noticed that engine just breathed better throughout the rev range and was more drivable. Although, there was only a 2 to 4 WHP gain and probably as 5-7 WHP with the S/C.

And yes, the sound is awsome...
