IT'S GONE!!!
IT'S GONE!!!
I got up this morning, looked out the window and....it's gone.
My TL is gone. All I see in my driveway is two huge white bumps where my cars used to be. I'm devastated.
Wait, I turned the TV on and they said something about a blizzard. Huh. Maybe my cars are out there somewhere. Now I have to go dig through 18+ inches of sno to find out.
I guess we'll be seing a lot of those "My car sucks in the snow" and "EL 42s tried to kill me" threads today. Good thing I'll be too busy digging out to read them all.
I love winter.
Anyone here with an MDX - How do you like it overall and in the snow? Im thinking I need to add to my stable.

On another note, I think my car performed fine in the snow (I'm just trying to counter-act some of the comments that it is a death trap).
I have posted a few times defending the stock tires. Here is another.
I live in Cleveland and work in Mentor (15 miles east) and both cities took the brunt of the blizzard yesterday IMO. I thought I was gonna be late for work. NOPE!!!!!!!!! My car AND THE TIRES performed great. I have no idea what people are talking about. By the looks of it, I thought I would never get to work. I think I was going 30-40mph on completely snow covered freeway with a few inches of standing packed or drift snow.
Don't be mad at the tires, be mad at the physics of driving in a BLIZZARD.
This is the first time in 5 years i do NOT have a sports car in this mess. Handles like a dream compared. But then again my opinion is skewed cause of my experience.
If any of you people have sports cars or cars with PILOT SPORT(or the like) on them. Please take my challenge. Drive for the next month with that car, and then get back in your TL and tell me how you like your shitty tires now?????????
Relax, get off the tires. Become a better driver, which by some posts, some of you need to do.

The EL42s seem to be fine in the snow. Not the best, but definetly not the worst either. In very light snow they suck something awful.
The trick to shoveling is alot of short shifts. If you wait till it's done snowing and do it all at once you're screwed!

Every paradise has its problems...although I would love to move somewhere with great temp. & great roads. I think its the roads that piss me off the most about NY.

Let's see how many potholes we will get after this storm.

A while ago I was thinking about moving to Arizona. Great open stretches of road where you could really test the ~155mph top speed of the TL (if you don't mind the 120 degree weather once in a while)
The only snow my TL got to see is what blew on it when I opened the door to get to the snow blower!
My Solara is a nightmare in the snow with its new Toyo Proxes TPT 4s. Oddly enough my '87 Dodge Diplomat (the Dippy) handles the snow a LOT better with its small block V8 and RWD. No ABS, no traction control, no nuttin.
Regards,

HAHA. Just thought I'd have a little fun. We got about 15" of the fluffy stuff. My cars looked just like BstonBruin's. Can't wait to build my new garage. My single car garage is so full of crap I can't get a car in it.
I kept my promise and stayed away all day. Spent the day digging out then going to help others get out. I personnaly have not had a problem with my EL42s. I had better tires, I've had worse. A large part of it is the driver. Don't do anything stupid and you should be ok. It's all about physics. Anyone interested in high performance driving should do some research on what racers refer to as the "friction circle". It relates the forces of acceleration, braking and turning to a theoretical circle. Step outside the circle and you're beyond the limits of adhesion and you're sliding or skidding. Works the same for driving in the snow/ice but with a much smaller circle. Understaning the concept can help you to keep the car in control by understanding the forces acting on the vehicle and how they affect it. It's hard to explain, I hope it makes some sense. Do some research, it will be worthwhile.
Here are two articles to get you started:
http://www.nyracer.com/friction.htm
http://www.geocities.com/prohibition_us/friction.html
(I haven't fully read through either yet so I can't endorse them, but anyone interested can look further)

You make the decision if that's your paradise. Oh and lots of rain 9 months out of the year...
(JK around) Love the northwest, but it is much slower than California or Midwest or East Coast. Come here to retire.
