Transporting Dogs

For those of you that have dogs, are there any products you have found that fit well in the TL, easily installed/ removed and cover all surfaces.

I love my dogs, but not what they can do to the car.

I have 2 pugs that are great, but shed everywhere and dig their nails into the leather.

Appreciate your advice and thoughts.

Yeah, trunk tray with the ski hole down. Dogs in my other cars aren't a problem but with the taupe leather in the TL... not so sure about that.

The TL's leather is fragile. My ex's 6 month old '05 TL looked like someone vandalized the interior with a razor knife literally.... It was just one Boxer but that thing did some damage. She tried to take the dog in my car once and I told her I would shoot the dog before it ever got in my car. I don't know how you would protect it but I have seen how easily the interior, not just the leather rips from a medium sized dog.

I use one of those really thick plaid blankets...I lay it over the seat and tuck the top under the headrests...they are well behaved so never try and jump forward, plus, my fiance or myself normally stay in the car while the other one opens the door so they don't jump up front.

are you suggesting he put the dogs in the trunk? if so, i'm going to advise against that. just line the seats with a bunch of towels and push them into the creases so they don't slide around. i don't think it is any different in the TL than any other sedan.

Umm, no dogs in my car or house, thanks. I'd rather keep them where they belong, outside.

This is nice. Straps will keep them from ripping it down. Now I just wish they would lay down nicely like the dog in the picture.

I have to lock the windows because they think it is funny to open them. Once in a while they sneak in the front and one loves to honk the horn.

How do you attach the part where the back and bottom of the seat come together? I can see it sliding pushing the dogs to the floor.

Sorry if that doesn't make sense. Couldn't think of a better description.

bought a similar one, but instead it attaches to the front seats head rests, to kinda form a basket/cradle for the dog to stay in (you can still put crap in the foot wells ), and what happens if a passenger wants to also ride back there? it unzips in the center, so the cradle is only on ones side, but the passenger still can put there feet in the foot well (biggest hassle i have had with it though, is keeping that zipper zipped up fully; but a safety pin kinda works for that though, to keep the slider/zip all the way up)

there's a place to attach it between the seat and the back of the seat.

I almost bought that one, but my dog just hangs out on the bench part of the seat.

mine does too, ONCE she settles down a little (5-10 minutes maybe, till she relizes that we are going on a car ride)

and thank god, she does not like the windows down too, or does not expect them to be down (got taught since we first got her, the windows do not roll down just because she is in the car)

They can be trained to lay and be still. Mine do.

I usually just drape a comforteer over the back headrests all the way down to the floor. The only clean up I usually have to do after that is wiping the nose marks off the back windows but that's only takes a few seconds. And this I only do for long road trips. Other than that the dogs stay home.

I made the mistake of rolling the windows up on a drive to Tennessee around Thanksgiving. Not more than 30 seconds after, my dog farted...it was HORRENDOUS!

guess she taught me.

For those of you who have an Ocean State Job Lot near you, they have a seat cover for $10.

Once I get a chance clean the car, I will test it out.
