Transporting Bikes with TL (Jerky Poll)

As you know, we all put on a few pounds during the Holiday season,

Has anyone had a need to transport a bike or bikes using your TL?
What methods would you consider transporting your bike?

What are your recomendations, concerns

I saw some similar threads out there, but didn't see any solid solutions.

I use my 4 Runner to transport my bike, but if using the TL, i would probably use the trunk rack system. This is due to non permanent mounting.

Glad to see Jerky is back and his first post is a new POLL.

There is a guy here who had a hitch put on his car for a hitch-mounted bike rack but it was a total custom job that normal hitch installers won't touch.

I have a Yakima roof rack on my 98 CL and I like it but it messes up the car no matter how hard you try not to.

I would love to hear what other solutions people have come up with.

I always used an alternate vehicle to transfer my bike, go to the supermarket, etc. Welcome back.

I don't know about the third gen TL, but in my old Volvo sedan, I could put 4 bikes in the back. The back seat had a 70/30 split, and we would take off wheels/seats, and just shove everything in.

I had a bike rack too, some metal tubes with rubber where it touched the car, and straps to hold it in place. I would put an old towel between the rack and the car, to help minimize any scratch, and on parts of the bike closest to the car (metal pedals = bad for paint).

Remove front wheel and place in trunk.

Place bike on the floor in back with the crank facing the front of the car.

No folding rear seat is a big negative for hauling the bike.

The TL is much nicer than my old Volvo Wagon except in this category.

I ride the bike back and forth to the Bat Cave, where the TL is parked!!! lol!!
I use to ride before I got a boat!!!! Now they just stair at me from the garage, wondering why they don't get ridden!!!

If I did ride, another vehicle would have to be used to carry them around!!
