Transmission Tolerances
#3
Actually, the 3G TL trannys are reportedly quite different from the 2G trannies, which have been VERY problematic. The old tranny tolerated the 225 hp of the base engine nicely, but the 260 hp of the TL-S engine was too much, and led to a failure rate of, on this board, about 2%, much higher than expected. The new tranny has been re-engineered, but I can't give you specific numbers as to what it can tolerate; you'd have to contact Acura corporate about that one.

ACS response, "What was your name and Vin # again? We would like to keep that info so when you find out the limit of your transmission we can void your warranty, good day"......
I could be wrong though...

I wonder if Acura uses synthetic ATF in the '04.
I'm thinking that when trans fluid change time comes to go to Amsoil synthetic ATF
which is compatable with this trans according to Amsoil.
