Transmission Rebuild

I have a 2005 base TL with 98k miles on it getting the transmission rebuilt! I wanted to know how much it cost you to have it done?

I had my transmission rebuilt in August of last year for just under $2600. It was a specialty shop that came with 1 year unlimited mile warranty. I was quoted $2400-2500 originally.

Does anyone know how many labor hours go into a rebuild? Including removal and reinstall of the transmission?

If they rebuild it properly, I'd say 8-10 hours of labor. Problem is finding someone who fully rebuilds import automatics. Lots of them just put in new clutch packs without going through the rest of the transmission. Guess how I found THAT out?

The place doing my transmission has had my car for a week! The guy said normally it takes 3 to 4 days! Day 1 they remove the tranny. Day 2 they disassemble it. Day 3 they rebuild it and reassemble it. Day four they put the tranny back in and test drive it!

Do a lot of them not know how to do it or they're just too lazy? You'd think if they're going to warranty it they'd benefit by doing it right the first time. What else is necessary besides clutch packs? Solenoids and pressure switches?
