Transmission fluid filling

I know the transmission fluid topic has been discussed many times. I've searched but couldn't find an answer. My apology if this is a repeat.

After draining the transmission fluid, why do the filling thru the "fill hole"? Wouldn't it be easier to simply fill thru the dip stick tube? It's a bit slower but less work.

Thanks.

^not that hard to remove the fill bolt. 1/2" ratchet, 1/2" extension, 1/2" socket. crack her loose.

filling through the dip stick hole is a dip shit thing to do and takes forever.

Yes, sir. Will do so.

I have a feeling that going thru dip stick tube will get some messy spill. May end up with more work =P

Ive done it both methods. Let me tell you buy doing it the correct way it is much easier! I kind of regretted doing it through the dipstick because the reading was never too correct becasue the fluid would stick on the sides.

You should hear a loud pop when you take off the ATF fill bolt!! Use a breaker bar for best results!

Open the fill first, so you don't drain it and later find out the fill is seized lol. Some cars don't have a fill plug, so you the dipstick also works, I guess it's all preference.

Getting to the fill bolt and cracking it open takes all of 5 minutes. And it is a lot cleaner.

One word of caution....do not forget the washer when you put the fill bolt back on.

My cousin went to mech school and got certified, and I'd never changed tranny fluid before so I had him help me. He told me to start the car after filling it, to run the fluid through, but he didn't close the fill hole first. (the red would be the tranny fluid all over my face)

right.

just saying that to use a 1/2" socket instead of 3/4" so you don't run the risk of snapping a wimpy ratchet.

ask me how i know...
