Trading in my Baby

After over four years, I am trading in my 2004 TL for a 2008 Mercedes-Benz C350 Sport. The TL is quicker and stuff, but it's time to move on.

Thank you members and mods for helpng make this the most fun I have ever had owning a car.

Well ... MB driving experience won't be as good as the TL, at least the C-class ... but good luck anyway ...

My two cents are always get the top of the line car from one brand than bottom of the line from a name brand ... but that's just me

Personally you should have gone with a G35, IS350, or even a BMW. MB have some of the worst reliability according to the new Consumer Reports assessment. None of their vehicles got a recommendation due to reliability issues.

Anyways, to each his/her own.

Not selling any of the mods. I don't think I kept any of the original stock parts.

Pictures soon.

What you do is you sell the mod + require an oem replacement. IE, I'll sell you my progress rsb for $50 if you can send me the OEM as well.

Buyer Beware - Good luck

I would go BMW 335 before MBZ. I would have gone 335 but it was too small so went TL-S.
I had a Mercedes E350 - POS. I sued under the lemon law and got all my money back. Amazing how many people told me later of the problems that have with their Benz.. Plus, like someone else said consumer reviews very bad on reliability. I think they tied with Range Rover...

They are beautiful looking cars...

I was looking at both the C350 and the 335 before I bought the TL-S.
The C350 is just too damn tight inside and it only looks good with the sport package.
It's also in the same price range as the 335. I think if you're going to go German, go with the 335.

yeah you should find local people to swap for OEM parts, if your gonna trade it in the aftermarket parts will mean nothing to them and you can get a little extra cash to put down. Too bad your not around me I would swap for those CATs

oh and the c350 is a really nice looking car, too bad the tl-s is faster

335 > C350 IMO...this coming from an MB loyalist haha....two of my friends have 335xi coupes with the aero pkg etc. very loaded at 54k+ and MAN as much I'd like to say I'd rather get _____ for that much money....I honestly wouldnt, the thing is honestly a BEAST and with the black/red leather combo is definitely a showstopper not to mention he raced his car (stock) and beat an M3

I gotta agree with guys on MB. They tend to have electrical problems. I used to work in service for MB for about 1.5 yrs, the most common car in for problem service was the C-class, newer E-classes were usually there for basic services packages (less problems). Personally, i'd never get a C-class over a TL. Even their previous C350 still seemed very weak against a 3.2 TL. All their >2002 or older gen cars are garbage, yes even the beloved SL. I'd go BMW or Audi for base cars. For Mercedes, I'd only mess E350 or higher, that is, if i could afford that. I guess its an unwritten way of Mercedes saying not to go with their base models...

i traded my C320 in for my TL..my c-class only had 19000 miles on it before all kinds of shit started breaking..i traded my benz in at 22k miles for the TL...lost about 8K for the trade but the tl has been worth it...not once had to take it to a shop yet, knock on wood.

but the benz is a reallly nice car,and comfortable...so if u dont mind taking it to the shop then do it!
i miss the old bose sterio in the benz for sure.

Even though I wish the OP the best of luck it is tough to see someone take a huge step back in quality and pay substantially more money for an inferior car. MB has had some real serious quality issues as of late. I hope he gets a good one.

I bought the C350 Sport on Tuesday, and I promise that pictures are coming. (work, four kids, etc.)

I sincerely don't mind the comments. I don't feel they are directed at me personally, and most of the points have at least some validity to them. Namely, the TL (especially with my mods) is clearly quicker, and there have clearly been issues with MB reliability.

It was time for me to move on, and for certain reasons, this is the direction that I chose. I loved my TL, but I love my MB as well. The one post that struck me as a little funny was this one:

1. The MB is higher quality than the TL.

2. I paid only $9,000 more for the MB than for my TL.

3. I have driven both (have you?). I'm not sure that the MB is the inferior car.

I ended up taking it to Carmax. They offered me exactly $13,000. It has about 58,000 miles. I haven't sold it to them yet. A co-worker's son may give me more for it.

1. Not according to any of the surveys that I have seen. Please provide some support to this claim.

2. $9,000 is a lot more money in my book for a lower quality product.

3. Yes, I have driven MB's and I was not impressed but that does not matter. You are buying the car and apparently you were impressed. You will likely find out in 2 or 3 years which is the better car.
