Tpms

I have an 04 tl.

Does anyone know if a TPMS can be fitted?

I know the 06's and later models have it.

People with the 06's, how does this system work?

Is it something that its better to have than not?

I guess I'm the type of person who would like all the whistles and bells.

What are the pros and cons of the TPMS?

Kinda wish that I would had waited for an 06

I have a 2006 and just yesterday I put new wheels on my car and had to reinstall

the TPMS on the new wheels. Its essentially a vavle stem with a computor chip

attached that sends a signal to the car telling it the current tire pressure. It shows

a picture of the car on the info screen in the car w/ the current tire pressures.

As far as equpping your vehicle with it, it sounds expensive. Your best bet is to ask

your dealer, or someone here will chime in if they have done this.

I put after market wheels on my car and chose not to swap the monitors .. and don't miss them .. if it was a buyable option I wouldn't pay $5 for it.

Never had them for the first 40 years of driving .. I see no real benifit now .. even disabled thay take anywhere from 2 to 5 miles before then notify of a problem .. I'm sure I'd notice a flat by the old means sooner than that.

Id rather they had spent the money on better leather or switchblade key or better climate control etc etc

Oh dear, oh my, oh dear...

Do a Google on "government regulation automobile tire pressure monitor ".

There is pending regulations to force all US auto makers to have TPMS. Why ? Low tire pressure will KILL you. What causes blowouts on the freeway ? Bad tires ? No, running on the freeway with serverly low tire pressure will result in a blow out.

The TPMS is integrated into the MID unit, so it cannot be retrofitted into the '04-'05 TLs.
