Touch up paint advice
Touch up paint advice
Over the weekend I got a 8 inch scratch on my TL. It looks like it got keyed. I was wondering if I should buy touch up paint from the ACURA dealer or buy touch paint from www.paintscratch.com? paintscratch.com was highly recommended by another member of this site. Any other ideas/products? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Touch up choice:
I just finished up with testing Acura touch up vs. Duplicolor touch up for my 04NBP. I must say that both are great but the duplicolor is a much better match. Both have a lot of speckles but I chose to go with duplicolor since the speckles were blue like the ones in my car. The Acura touch up speckles are kind of silvery whittish. Don't forget to use clear.
Now with that said I'm not sure how bad the scratch is so I couldn't tell you how to approach it. My key mark was about 6 inches but portions of it only scratched the clear and some down to the primer. I busted out my PC and used some 3m PI-IIIRC and then 3m PI-IIIMG. That took most of it off and the rest I am planning to fill (Duplicolor touch), chemical levler (Plasti-kote, basically weak laquer thinner)wetsand (lightly if necessary), the 3m RC, 3m MG and then zaino.
Good luck and sorry about the keying...know how it feels.
