It's normal on a FWD car to get that when you stomp the gas. If it happens while driving normally that's probably an alignment / suspension issue.

Its normal on a car with a lot of power. Civics and what not dont normally have torque steer, at least my 2000 accord dx didnt.

My 04 6sp MHT has a ton o' torque steer. Seems to be more as my tires wear down. Wondering which set might be the best to help this?

Buchwheat, you're gonna love it. Best car I've ever owned.

I've seen pictures. CRV is way better than TL.

If you are on a decent piece of road surface without crowning and no debris and the wheels are pointing straight ahead and your tires are good, then you should have minimum to no torque steer under full throttle. However, if any of those conditions are compromised or if there are any mechanical problems with your car, then you are very likely to encounter torque steer.

Usually don't have much torque steer when both tires are spinning nicely either

Funny you put that in there...I almost put that exact phrase in, but I left it out because my TL-S is actually one of the lowest HP vehicles I've owned. My definition of "powerful" is probably more skewed than others!

270-286hp really isn't much compared to most sports sedans now anyhow, but I guess if you're comparing it to Civic EXs and such then it makes sense

Question on the torque steer. I rotated my tires yokohma w4s. I was told they are cupping. Now when I downshift the car pulls hard left (it wasnt pulling as hard before) and the car feels like its all over the road hard to keep it straight esp. when the road has grooves or ruts. I also have had a consistent vibration I feel from the drivers side front but its worst now. I also had the passenger side axle replaced a few weeks ago. Are all these symptoms of the tires? The tires I rotated to the front have more tread. So am i just feeling torque steer or is it just the tires?

With a 286 HP front wheel drive car, I don't care how the road is, what kind of traction control you have, you WILL have torque steer. It doesn't mean there is something wrong with your car. Its just a fact. Even base TL's have horrendous torque steer.

^This.

It's just the reality/drawback of a high powered FWD car. As is understeer.

Funny, my '04 manual doesn't do this under the conditions I mentioned in post #9.

The Yokohama AVID W4S tires leave a LOT to be desired for our TL's. Flat spotting, vibration, less-than-desirable wear characteristics, and increasing noise as they wear are inherent to these tires. Had a set on my "other" 3G TL, an '5 automatic - the wife's, for a year and a half. And then a few weeks ago when we had them replaced with what I should have put on that car in the first place; Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires.

In your case, I would strongly suspect the tires first before anything else.

Yeah going to press the dealer on that before the warranty is over and get them to verify that these tires are just no good.

Neither one was of course stock. I had about as much $ invested into just the engine of my STi as I have still left on the note on my TL-S.

I knew you'd say that lol. Yea I meant in stock form, then again they are all wheel drive and torque steer just doesn't happen in AWD.

Haha yea. You would be surprised actually, my STi would torque steer if I just punched it from a roll...it's a little different from FWD torque steer though. You just kind of kick sideways a little, but the car has so much grip it corrected itself pretty fast.

I STRONGLY agree. I just replaced these tires on my TL and it was the best decision I ever made. I battled a litte while with trying to get more milage out of them (maybe could have squeezed 5000 to 8000 more, but I couldn't handle it any more. Rough ride, noisy, sub par traction... bleh. They actually made me hate my car. Picked up a set of Conti DWS's and now the TL's back in my good graces

Please report from time to time about your experience with your Continental DWS tires. These tires appear to be a viable option for TL owners.
