Go for it. Not gonna hurt your pockets if it don't. Honestly been considering it for my intake before I install it...

consider it an 'upgrade' for your intake. I've had mine since i put the intake in. No noticeable gains, but no setbacks either. Maybe helps my mpg. I floor it all day long and still get 17-19 mpg on street.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tornado_Fuel_Saver

Most devices on the market are not found to improve fuel efficiency to any statistically measurable extent.

Many other reputable organizations such as the AAA and Consumer Reports have performed studies that have found similar results.
I mean.. if you enjoy wasting money & time .. go for it..
it's not exactly that you have _nothing_ to lose...
you waste time/effort/money on this stuff.. then you can get into simple economics and argue whether or not the opportunity cost of your time/effort/money is less than the satisfaction you derive from this device that really does nothing but spin... if you do, by all means purchase away..

I've tried it on both my wife's car and my last accord v-6. No improvement. Even put the accord on the dyno, nothing.

Two things:

1. If it was so easy to increase mileage by disrupting the airflow in the intake, Acura would've already done it. In truth, it may hurt performance and mileage because it disrupts the ideally laminar air flow.

2. It would suck (literally) if this thing got loose in your intake manifold.

The Tornado is a scam. End of story.

On the 2G board, 3-4 years ago, some guy claiming to be the son of the Tornado founder, kept posting that he put one on his TL and it lead to phenomenal improvement in gas mileage AND an increase in HP. When pressed for a dyno proving his claims, he complained for a while then disappeared. Totally scammalicious.

Here's some threads...entertaining!
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45064 (Aug 2002), the saga begins with the turbox777 claiming it works and he hasn't dynoed it yet and it's his family's company

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49482 (Nov-Dec 2002), dyno never produced on TL, turbox777 called on it

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52767 (Feb 2003), still waiting for a TL dyno.....never got one. We gave up waiting. We see OTHER dynos on other cars showing a DECREASE in HP.

And the increase in mileage is minimal.

I saw the infomercial and was shocked to see that an old lady (as old as my mom) was talking about the H/P gains, gas milage improvement and how easy it was for her to install it....I have yet to meet a woman (please I'm not being sexist) that really knows about cars other than just putting the gas in it, therefore this old lady had a script, therefore coached, therefore a scam...and the "inventor" is laughing all the way to the bank.....

Thumbs down Snake oil...

The tornado is nothing but junk.

Trust me, anything that is inside the air inlet stream is a restriction to airflow.

Nobody has been able to prove that the Tornado does all these things it claims. In fact, most dyno tests show no improvement. 1/4 mile time don't change and claimed increases in fuel economy aren't well tested (controlled).

Pure snake oil.

i filled my tl up in novmber and still have a 1/2 tank let, i strategicaly placed 3 throught the intake,(custom modified, of course) and ive gotten 1500 miles to the first half tank, so tht will put me roughly at 3000 miles per tank, you should definatley do it

Don't forget high performance blinker fluid and synthetic muffler bearings. Also I see 5-10 HP from switching to summer air vs winter air in the tires.

Who falls for this crap?

on a serious note...for all the auto drivers....you can just use "sport shift" in the "slow mode" shift, meaning shift for your self, keep the car at 2k and under and you'll be saving fuel. Plus you'll be almost as tired as the guy next to you with a manual. On the bright note, the car shifts from 1st into second by it self, so on those traffic days...sit back and laugh at the MT guy. Ofcourse once the traffic is gone...you won't have to see em as he'll be very far ahead looking for a gas station.

Hope this helps...and I'm sure those who cared already figured this thing out.

I saw a an actual test which showed a loss in power and MPG - this is entirely predictable since laminar air flow is what is wanted, not swirling or tumbling in an manner not factored into what is a essentially a closed loops system.

Swirling air/fuel mix based on specific head/intake poirt/intake valve design CAN result in gains in getting the most efficient burn and subsequent specific power output. But that is an entirely different engineering application.

In other words, like most "too good to be trues", The Tornado is an engineering bust. Save your money.

On ABC World News Tonight earlier, still coming up 9:30 on the west coast, was a story about these so-called fuel saving gagets. Consumer Reports tested them ALL and found none of them was able to increase anything by even 1 mile per gallon. In some cases, these Ripoffs actually reduced gas mileage.

Please do convert the video. That would be helpful and will hopefully put threads like this to rest. If I have time, I'd add such a thing to the 3G Garage.
